It depends on what happens the seasons afterwards. If this is a transition season then be it if we end up in a viral transition that takes too long to end then yes of course.

Great answer from depressed old man :D :p Totally agree with you.

And people need to be reasonable with their expectation, even if we do loose Scudetto in tight race I would be disappointed, but it's not gonna be an end of the world. Other clubs improved and are more hungrier, also it's kinda false logic, or every management of club that didn't manage to defend their title did a bad job. Many factors play, from simple luck, to injuries and better schedule.

I know it's a popular opinion that we should/could sign a star player, but beside period when we sold Zidane and period when we signed Zlatan (who wasn't a real star signing) and Viera, we were hardly signing top players from top clubs. Also times have changed and we don't play in the best league in the world anymore, we don't have oil money or huge turnover so we really have to be careful when we decide to splash the cash. Just look at Draxler we want him, we can't afford to spend big money on the player who hardly played last season because of injury.

That is inevitable for all teams/clubs, big and small. But the manner of the transition is important. When you effect it from a position of strength then it can go smoother than when you're forced into that territory.
We were at a position of strength. Thing is that the sales are thing we couldnt do much about.

- Pirlo was to old. We let him go before the vidal thing
- Tevez wanted to leave a year early. Considering Marotta's comments that was not planned, and considering Tevez wage and history, you dont want an agry tevez cause he'll just stay in argentina and wont return
- Vidal wanted out. He's 28 now. If we deny and he stays here unmotivated, he will be 29(wich affects price) and will have a lesser season, again lowering price.

I'm pretty sure we wouldnt have allowed pirlo to go if we knew vidal was gonna go

But Khedira, Rugani, Dybala, Mandzukic +dibs on Berardi ? Lets not pretend we lost 2 keyplayers and got nothing in return

Let me just put it this way, a Goetze and Sandro/Kurzawa would enable a smoother transition than what Marrotta is talking about today. Don't know about where we really stand with them, but with the personnel that have left us, it's almost certain that there is certain level of quality/profile we need incoming to tie in the loose ends that currently exist, arguably. Especially in the starting XI.

If we don't want to spend money on a player who hardly played last season, then only we are to blame because we are the ones who identified him in the first place. You can't expect to make every signing an opportunistic move. Some positions require a little more weight financially, and we need to be aware of that when identifying our targets. Goetze, someone Marrotta has mentioned explicitly for example won't come cheap, but tomorrow if he comes out and says we can't afford him, then again, only we are to blame for thinking that we could in the first place when we identified him as a possible candidate. My personal hunch anyway is, that we are still in it with Bayern and Goetze and are biding time with Draxler.

in this particular mercato? if it ends today, he doesnt getting a passing grade
He's brought some great players in: Dybala, Rugani and we fully own Pererya now. Khedira is injured but he was a great signing. We did lose Vidal, but that's just business. The price we sold him for still puts a sour taste in my mouth tbh.

This mercato isn't over. We still need to sell Llorente and bring in a young CM, a starting LB and possibly an CAM but I think Coman / Dybala would do well there.

how can a signing whos injured be great? was andrade a great signing? we have to wait and see. Dybala we paid a lot for so he has to really shine to be a great signing. Rugani is indeed a good signing but i wouldnt include him in this mercato dealings though his addition is definitely welcome.

the thing to remember here is whwom we lost and who did we replace them with, and so far it's not looking good

Tielemans is impossible. He plays in belgium. Therefore he will go to the EPL.

Players in Belgium that go to italy are considered failed pieces of shit that are bad enough to go to the league where everybody defends with 10 players, and hoofs the ball away, and every game ends 0-0.

Apparently, Rugani is allready starting over Caceres and Barzagli whom wont be risked.

People need to stop tripping out. He's done a good job and our squad so far could handle the injuries.
:agree:

He has managed to bolster all areas of the squad: GK, Def, Mid & Att. Young, dynamic, a lot of room to grow with experience we already have. Khedira is unlucky at the moment but Morata was also injured this time last year for 2 months and Khedira can bounce back. I am more worried about our physios than anything else.

Don't think our mercato is finished by any means either.

Well, lets see here. I am fairly confident Mandzukic will score more than enough goals to compensate for losing Tevez and the misfiring Llorente. Tevez's loss won't nearly be felt as much with Dybala as he grows this season. Zaza will be better than Matri and adds more to our attack than he could. Only a pessimist would disagree. :p

Midfield, albeit a bit more tricky to answer :)D) IMO, and call me stubborn or whatever adjective you wish, I still think Khedira is going to be useful. Pirlo wasn't adding much anymore and having Marchisio slotted to that spot will be the best thing for our midfield. Furthermore, not having to cover for a Pirlo will make the pain of losing Vidal much less. I think our midfield will be more mobile and fluid this year.

If that doesn't answer your question then bring it you know I don't back down:

whatever you're smoking im sure @Fr3sh wants some, theres no way any sane person would choose this year's attack and mid over last year's at this point.
