The Silver Star won't ever materialise into anything, Quagliarella is already fondly remembered by most Juventus fans (besides some here) while Matri will mostly be remembered as useless and a failure besides scoring a couple of important goals. Quag went through an ACL injury and doesn't even play CF, spent less time here and still scored the same amount of goals.
But yet Quag's goal against Chelsea will?

In all seriousness, did Quag ever score a goal that was more important in the history of this club than the one that Matri scored in the Coppa Italia?

I love it how signings from 3 seasons ago need to be brought up to find a bad deal from our management
Are you kidding? Certain TURKISH members love to bring up Martinez whenever he doesn't have a valid argument.

Fuck, that was from 2010. Obviously that signing caused significant and lasting damage to the future of this club.

So if Matri was a bad signing at 18M, how exactly was Quag a good signing at 15M? They both had roughly similar amount of goals scored (Matri's record is still better) and Matri's goals were (IMO) a lot more vital and decisive in the long run.

Both were good signings, but Matri's was obviously better.
Chelsea 2-2 (Equaliser)
Chelsea 3-0 (First goal)
Copenhagen 1-1 (Equaliser)
Galatasaray 2-2 (Second goal)

Matri has the one coppa goal and two vs celtic. Both have some Serie A deciding, Quag having many over a few seasons. Quag was clearly far more important, it's not even really up for debate.

So Matri scored 1 important goal. Does that make up for his horrible ability to even control the ball (touch of a rapist)? Or being benched for huge periods with 0 injury issues to speak of....

Matri's Coppa Italia goal >>>>>>> anything that Quag done. The only really important goal he scored was against Chelsea. But it still is nowhere near as significant as the Matri goal.

I'm not arguing who the better player is, because on a skill level, Quag is better than Matri. But as far as history is concerned, even if it is 1 single goal, that one will be remembered before Quag's goals in the round of 16 and group stages of the CL will be.

Ok then. If Padoin comes on at the end of the CL final as a sub and scores the winning goal, is he a better signing than Tevez then?

Obviously not, but you are comparing two players who are on opposite ends of the spectrum as far as talent is concerned.

Matri and Quag are on a far more level playing field. Again, I am not saying that one was a better signing than the other. My opinion is that Matri's goal in the Coppa Italia will have more significance in the history of this club than any goal that Quag scored for Juve.

It's not a knock on Quag.

But how does that make him a better signing? A couple of important goals vs many moments of individual brilliance.

But I NEVER SAID that he was a better signing, did I?

I was one of the few people who were laughed at during the 2nd part of the 2010-2011 season when I was of the opinion that everything went downhill the moment Quag was lost for the season, because he was that vital for Juve staying above water.

You're being baited by the same people who helped start this stupid debate to begin with.

Matri scored more goals than Quag...and evidently more important ones too.

Hence.

Matri >>>> Quag
Haven't you run out of bait by now? :D
