I think he was a flop considering his output, the one half season at Juventus standard wasn't enough. But of course credit goes for getting back a lot of that fee from Milan.

Likewise Secco actually made decent some money from selling crap (Nocerino €7.5m, Bojinov €8m, Diego himself), but this was just for negative signings.

I should have added a few more for sure, just a quick post.
Secco didn't sell Diego, Marotta did.

And I do have to respectfully disagree with you on Matri. HE scored big goals in big games for this club during his first stint with us. And the goals he scored in the Coppa this year alone are priceless.

Martinez was an absolutely dreadful signing  :sergio:

I think it's a signing that actually made Beppe cry. And then it made him stronger. He said, you know what, I'm not gonna let this shit break me.

Next summer I'm gonna fucking go get Pirlo for free and that weird looking chilean fella from Leverkusen for 10 million. I'll add a fucking nazi at right back and top it off with Mirko "crazy ass" Vucinic, and win the god damn Serie-A.

Cause that's how I roll :beppe:

Matri was a bad signing, it was a desperate move after Quag's injury. No two ways about it.
In the 2011/12 winning season, Matri scored against Milan - the team everyone expected to win the league - at the San Siro. He scored vital goals against Udinese, Chievo and Cagliari, goals that were the difference between 1 and 3 points. He also scored in the amazing comeback against Napoli at the San Paolo. There were other goals too.

Not to mention his crucial assists against Lazio away (0-1 Pepe) and his assist to Marchisio in the win against Inter (2-1, Vucinic Marchisio).

Matri was pivotal that season.

And now he has given us that silver star.

Bad signing my ass :howler:

And he won us the 10th Coppa Italia, a historical achievement that will be forever remembered by the fans. He has entered Juventus history...something that hole-chin could only dream of.
Yep. Matri will easily be remembered 20 years from now, due to that big moment. Such a guy could never be deemed a bad signing. Especially not when the total cost is 6 million.

Quag will be remembered the same way the likes of Rui Barros are remembered. Aka "ohh, did he play there? How neat. Didn't know that." or "Oh yeah that's right. He was there too. Slipped my mind."

Maybe. But Quag actually had a very decent series of games for us. It is on the other hand a mystery how Matri has played for a club as big as Juventus. That being said he has given us exactly what we should have expected from essentially a 3th or 4th choice striker: a couple of goals that have come in handy.

Matri was successful transfer no doubt about it,we bought him for 18m sold for 12m and he scored a lot of important goals , and this loan

Krasic bought for 15m and his first 6 month were amazing , to bad he was 1 dimensional but again we sold him for 7m .

Martinez on other hand he was total failure , even before we got him everyone knew he was shit 💩 , I don't know what the fuck Pepe thought he was doing , his biggest failure .

Isla was fail too,but I can't blame Marotta on this, everyone wanted him , everyone was so happy when we signed him.

Very nice goals, those, @ZoSo, but I can assure you that they won't be "talked of" 20 years from now. But whenever the Coppa Italia is spoken of, dat Silver Star is gonna be mentioned and there will be the name of Matri. That was my point.

Quag made some decent contributions in his Juve career, no doubt about it. But so did Rui Barros.

I can't even bother blaming Marotta for any transfer that he made.

We managed to win Serie A 4 times. And this year we took Coppa and we're CL finalists.

Not just that, but it's not even June and we already have Dybala and Khedira in Turin. :toast: We're in the top again and what a wonderful team we have.

The Silver Star won't ever materialise into anything, Quagliarella is already fondly remembered by most Juventus fans (besides some here) while Matri will mostly be remembered as useless and a failure besides scoring a couple of important goals. Quag went through an ACL injury and doesn't even play CF, spent less time here and still scored the same amount of goals.

So if Matri was a bad signing at 18M, how exactly was Quag a good signing at 15M? They both had roughly similar amount of goals scored (Matri's record is still better) and Matri's goals were (IMO) a lot more vital and decisive in the long run.

Both were good signings, but Matri's was obviously better.
