Really you think that to buy Buffon was a mistake?
I don't know if we can say he's the best in the world, but he's in bests IMO and considering the age he can also improuve and get more mature. He's garanee 4 nearly 10 years...
He may not have Kahn iron personality but I don't see many episode in which we can complain with Buffon 4 something...
I belive you when you say you had a hard time when you criticised Buffon... the forum is so paked by his fans
From some old posts I excanged you as a Buffon fan too, but maybe, cause I haven't follow pasts discussions about the argument I didn't catch that they was ironic...

definitely i dont think that buffon was a step back. Buffon´s deal was definitely an improve, considering the bad last season of vander sar.
The only complain i have about buffy, is that in some shoots, he dont jump to catch the ball. Lately i have seen some goals that in my opinion, he could have stopped, or at least try to stop.
But this is not always. The do a lot for the team in almost all the games, in most of the goals are defense faults.

Actually, we've wasted three very very good GK prospects in Carini, Bonnefoi, and Mirante, who will all never play for Juve because of Buffon. Furthermore, VDS was the best keeper in Serie A regardless of the so-called blunders. We paid a lot of money and ended up wasting a lot of talent and ultimately weakening our defensive structure. That's not a great deal in my book.

IMO we did a good business to buy him cause he can be ouers goalkeeper 4 an entire "ciclus" like Zoff and Tacconi did, Zenga 4 Inter, ecc... I think is very important 4 a team to count on a goalkeeper without having trouble every year like 4 example Milan and Roma often do.
I don't think he was so overpriced... the money were a lot but few years ago all the players costed more than now and in Gigi case it was an investiment 4 many many years, so it was wort it. Maybe the mistake was to buy him when he was already famos and expensive while we could maybe do it before (Parma soon or late always sell their stars).
IMO is more a "crazy business" to buy a 30 years old soccer legend like ZZ or Figo than to invest in young player who can garanee you for 10 years in a key role.
About who is the best golie in the world... well that's a good argoment! I like Buffon a lot and I don't see anything to complain with him, but sometimes is true when I see Kahn he impress me more also if I can't say exately why. Maybe (beeing a goalkeeprt too) you can notice more things than us about in what Gigi can improuve...

Yeah, Kahn is a technically perfect goal keeper and he is one of the best at almost every other aspect of keeping from ball handling to distribution to leadership. His only weakness is his temper. Buffon is technically superb, but I've noticed a few minor flaw sin his game, for instance he loses his bearings when moving right to left across the goal, and his kick out dives are weak to the right side. And he certainly needs work on leadership, ball handling, and distirbution.
That's true... buying Buffon we spent on an already famos player while the best deal is always to take players right before they become stars (like Carini 4 example). But I guess Juventus didn't want to take any risck in a key role like the goalkeeper that's why they went straight on him. I think it was the right thing to do...

Kahn temper is IMO (as for everybody) a natural aspect who in some cases create positive aspect (strong personality, determination, leaderschip) and in the other side problems. Maybe just at the end of his career he will learn to moderate himself and to take just the positive aspect of his temper.

Or there is some video, when he didn't agree with some Collina's decision, and this situation from match with Inter: aftet that strange goal scored by Toldo - I think it was he.
He can show his temper, when he get mad.
And I saw one more video, not from the match: and he was as furious as during Feyenoord match.
I find it amazing that people are saying that Buffon is calm, he is not, he has such a bubbly personalty and thats why he was such a hero at Parma and now at Juve

Sometimes we complain about ther's no players in Juve with a strong personality who looks like leaders also outside the field (Nedved looks like it just during the matches) but my opinion is that this is exately what Lippi want. A group non single players. His strongs "metods" also in things apparently useless are probably 4 this pourpose.
