He is when you read Tuttosport. But we actually pay for those. Covid will not change much because countries that took plenty of vacinnes are starting to get their life back. No way players/agents will miss opportunity to milk clubs when they tie players on a 4-5 year deal while corona might disappear in a year. We used to pay like 40mln for Pogba but he was also "free".

Donna salary with taxes would be around 20mln and that is also crazy.

considering our current wage bill and financial climate, i'd probably skip on donnarumma. tek costs ~15m gross per season, and with proper coaching, he's been excellent. donna would cost north of 20m per year, and it's debatable who's the better of the two. i'd take musso from udinese, similar quality, much cheaper, and spend the rest on the midfield, which is really a pressing issue.

At this point I don't think the club is looking for 'just' a younger keeper.

It's a generational change ongoing at Juve and Dolla will be a big part of it - the club probably sees him as a future leader of this squad, possibly with De Ligt and Chiesa. I'd probably throw Locatelli in as well.

Is this justified from financial point of view? Of course not. The club needs more Italians and preferably the best ones that are out there. We can't rely on Buffon and Chiellini anymore.

Raiola is probably just using us to milk Milan, pal. I think he'll extend in the end.

You will probably have to look for a Woj replacement in a few years anyway. Only then it is likely you will have to pay well above 30-40m for a WC GK. If you can sell Tek for ≈ 20m and sign Donnarumma for similar amount with agent fees and all it is a no brainer honestly.

Biggest issue for me is once you give him 10million a season, every time there is another contract extension for a starter in our team, they will start demanding big pay rises.
I can already see the current crop asking for 7mill+ referring to squad rotation players like Rabiot and Ramsey on those numbers and just because they arrived on bosman’s I doubt that would wash with a first team starter with a knowledgable agent.

And I see that, agree with it but cash is at a premium as it is. We're even haggling to extend Morata loan... I'd guess we'd actually have nothing to spend net if we don't qualify for the CL.

Unpopular opinion but I think that we'll ship off CR7, Dybala, Rabiot, Ramsey etc. so the wage bill will go down by a lot. The question is whether we'll be able to build a team that our next coach (Allegri?) will like.

We look at this from the point of squad evolution while everything else points to revolution tbh.

If that's the case we should surely focus on rebuilding our mid and rebuilding our forward line, which is a huge task, especially since we need to replace guy who can score 40 goals per season. It's huge issues to replace and sign new 4 key players. That alone means thinking about a new GK is just stupid.

This to me is a valid exception though. I don't know how much Szczesny is worth on the books, let's imagine he is sold for 20m to an EPL team, doesn't seem like a too high figure.

Donnarumma costs maybe 20-30m in fees + 20m per season in wages.

so it's an investment of around 10m extra this season to improve on Szczesny with a phenomenal player that is a decade younger.

It's a great opportunity.
