Is this real life? You're telling me Buffon is 40, not retiring with Juventus and is about to join another top European club?
Don't know how I should feel about this since this wasn't something I ever thought I had to witness

Then be consistent and expect the same from big players too. Don't be pissed at Thuram, Zambrotta, Ibra, Cannavaro etc.. or more recently Vidal & Pogba for doing what they believe was best for them. If you felt these players betrayed the club by going elsewhere when they were needed, then the club betrayed Ale and Gigi in their last years.
Atleast in Madrid a fan could feel ultimately better in the end because after forcing out their legends they went after world class talent to replace them. We forced Ale out and got Anelka and Bentdner, and now its Perin and Woj for Gigi
Wanna kick out the oldie, fine fuck sentimental value, be very pragmatic but get me a better player than who you forced out. We down graded the last time we forced out the oldie (Ale) and this time its still a question mark. I know Woj had some good games this season and was good in his last season for Roma but he has been very mediocre for the great majority of his career. I wanna see him fulltime before I'll be satisfied with this change. Same for Perin

I don't consider any of these as traitors. Only the ones who left directly for Inter and Milan.
Anelka, Bendtner, Borriello and Osvaldo were brought in half a season for depth as an emergency. They all were last options. Ale was already sitting on the bench half of the season for the likes of Vucinic, Matri and Quagliarella. He wouldn't have agreed to be 4th or 5th choice down the pecking order, rightfully so.
Same with a 40 year-old Buffon. Sadly, Szczesny has shown that he's the more reliable option at the moment and Gigi wouldn't sit on the bench for him.
And it's not like Ale and Buffon were disrespected with their exits. They got a great sending off. Look where Nedved is right now.

Why so? they needed to move forward and that was the best opportunity that presented itself to them. Ibra certainly made the right choice for himself became an absolute starter and became a monster of a player. Same way that if he suddenly turn shit we wouldnt mind shipping him out to Australia or any place that would have him.
To your other point. IIRC Ale agreed to a big pay cut if it meant he can stay as a bench player. He went to play in Australia and India later he would have definitely accepted an Anelka/Bendtner/Osvaldo role as you said he was already doing it.
To your final point I don't think Woj is more reliable than Gigi though it is not unreasonable to think so. There is a difference in sample size. We never had woj for a long enough run to see him make mistakes. He made mistakes at Arsenal when he was a starter full time. Gigi we see week in week out and he rarely makes mistakes himself. 2-3 mistakes all season is all I can remember tbh.
Having said that I did like what Woj did in the chances that he got this season so I really hope that once he becomes a full time starter you are right and he keeps up this level he showed us.
