I don't think there is so much idiocy as there is frustration.
Most people are frustrated with the team and every player gets a taste of it.

But if we end up selling Buffon, we would be crying for him next 4-5 years when we have frickin Marchetti in goal.

Of course it's idiocy, if you have a player of Buffon's quality struggling in this mediocre Juve side, what makes them think some other GK would change anything? There are so many factors to consider but hey, lets focus of anger on one of our club legends, lets sell our best players to bring in more mediocre players.
