Sell Buffon and next season DP retires, that would complete our current transition to a mid table club. Seriously, the thought about not having these names on our roster is scaring the hell out of me.

We Should've kept the players who stayed with us in Serie B till the end of thier careers such as Trezeguet and Camorenesi per say, we gutted our once legendary winning back bone and all we are left is Buffon and Del Piero; Mad respect to :delpiero: Nedved. If we did hold on to Camorenesi we couldve put him as a CAM playmaker and Krasic for the right Flank.

I love Buffon to bits but if we get a decent offer for him then we should sell, he isn't what he used to be. He gave loads to the club and i'm sure we all appreciate that but it may be time for him to leave
The best price you would get for Buffon is about €25m and to find a proper replacement with world class potential would cost you about €18-€20m, that's if you want to sign the likes of Lloris, De Gea, Neuer and Adler. Unless you're happy to have Storari as you #1, it's pointless to sell Buffon.

I respect him a lot for staying and am grateful that he did.

But when your captain gives the impression that he doesn't care that we lose then that isn't acceptable. Getting angry in defeat is the perfect way to push yourself to not let it happen again, if you brush it off then you are likely to take that lackadaisical attitude onto the pitch the next time you play.

It is no coincidence that some of the biggest winners in the world are the worst losers.
But what do you expect him to do? Keep yelling at his incompetent teammates to get their shit in order? There's only so much of it he can do. He did two years ago towards the end of season, he did it all of last season pretty much. You think he can't see what's going on around him? What can he be expected to do. I don't blame him for any of this. I'm grateful he's pledged allegiance to this mid table team because he's a champion, and he knows he'll walk into any team of his choice, but there's a reason why he's not doing it. Let's respect him for that. He's the worlds greatest, and he doesn't fear competition, but I really don't see any point in him acting like Hulk Hogan and tearing his jersey or chokeslamming Gattusso for having scored, at the end of the game, coz this team is in seventh with little or nothing to play for. He's aligned to this seasons reality, half of which he was unavailable for - and he doesn't need to be hurting himself, so he can be mentally and physically ready next season, to lead the team into it's new stadium and prolong his Juventus career.

He's a legend. Its pointless to question his commitment and/or ability because he wouldn't have been one, if either was lacking.

Why? Because he hugged and laughed with players of his level from Milan? It's not his fault that his quality of players, don't play for him, but against him. They share a healthy camraderie and respect because they know how hard they've worked to get there, and be on top of their games. Also if you think his performances have dipped, based on this season, please don't forget, to put into perspective, the performances of the team as a collective. Which if anything is more lax and poorer than Buffon at the moment. By this logic, lets just sell everyone on the roster for what they're worth. That will total up to 10m£. Add Buffon's sale, and that's another 20m£. Voila. That's 30m£ to rebuild the club, that too with Marrotta in charge. Time for some loans with some options to buy. He'll finish that budget by sending gifts to Wolfsburg, taking Garrone out to lunch and buying multicoloured friendship bands for Del Neri.

The recent past:
"We should have kept Trezeguet"
"We lost our aura when we lost our old champions like Nedved"
"We don't have quality players"

The present:
"We should sell Buffon"

Actually, it's not, you are contradicting yourself there, because you will need a replacement sooner or later. If you sell Buffon now you can directly finance that replacement and get a new keeper for the next 10 years without a large investment, whereas if you wait for Buffons value to drop you'd have top find a new source for 20 mil € to get a new player.

So you sell him now and get a new gk with WC potential you'd probably have a new goalkeeper for the next ten years and you'd cover his transfer.

If you find proper young goalkeeper, that is. Great young goalkeepers aren't easy to find...

We could of sold Buffon for big money a few years back and did not. He's worth more staying with us now rather than the financial gain we'd get.

We should look to sell other players.

The amount of idiocy in this thread is really scary.
I don't think there is so much idiocy as there is frustration.
Most people are frustrated with the team and every player gets a taste of it.

But if we end up selling Buffon, we would be crying for him next 4-5 years when we have frickin Marchetti in goal.

True actually. As shown by the universal despair at the sale of Trezeguet. The last part is especially true though.
That really was THE dumbest transfer mistake of Juve history post Calciopoli & some still want another crack at doing the same thing. Gotta love this forum.:D

The thing is Nick, will the same doubters want him to be sold when he regains his form? Make no mistake, he will do that & prove the retards wrong. We have way too many players that are draining the clubs finances so yeah, we have plenty of flops to discard.
