Buffon: Man City have no X Factor

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has launched a withering attack on Manchester City by saying that they aren't attractive to the world's best players.

City have been repeatedly linked with Buffon over the last year and apparently made an approach for him in January last year.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that they made another inquiry earlier this month, which Juventus didn't exactly discourage.

However, the prospects of Buffon moving to Eastlands appear distinctly unlikely after today's comments in an interview with the Daily Express.

“It doesn't surprise me that a lot of big players have turned down Manchester City. The best players in the world want to playing for the top teams in the top three Leagues, no more than five or six teams in Europe.

“It's a very elite list and Manchester City have to accept the fact they are not one of them.

“I read that City were interested in me last summer. I don't know if anything was tabled, but there is no way I could have considered it.

“I couldn't justify leaving one of Europe's most famous clubs for a team that are not playing football at the highest level.

“City have some fantastic players but if they want to go up to the next level and sign even better players then they must claim a Champions League spot this year.”

As opposed to us, who have secured the CL spot weeks ago..

I see what he means though, good man, you should stay until you retire Superman, as after this season you'll be one of the last of the Old Guard still here, and we neeeeeed you. :touched:

I said so on basically every page in this thread: Gigi is staying.

Guys, dont u think a Compilation of Buffon saves for this season would be nice?

From strat of season he was great in league,CL and also NT ( remember Roma,Livorno,Macabi,Goergia,Bulgaria etc...) and he kept playing so great that first Ferrara start saying players like him and Maraddona are exceptional in football, and then also opponent coaches talked about him, I remember Macabi,Bourdoux,Livorno and some other coaches talked about him after games.

Because of juve's horrible season many forget how great Buffon was this season for us and how many times he saved our asses. I think we need a compilation to prove it to anyone who doubt it.

I'm about to watch the compilation now but just wondering if anyone can remember who we were playing when Buffon made the goal line save while he was sitting.

After he made an initial save he was sitting on the ground on the goal-line and literally reached behind his head and pulled the ball out of the net.

watching this reminds me of why i love buffon so much...its not just his loyalty and heart, its the saves he can make which are literally super human, as if he has the physical stature of a big man, governed by the agility and instincts and speed of a leopard.

He makes saves that are galactic class, not just world class. Saves which do not make sense...dhalsim arms and ocelot reflexes. Something we should keep hold of, at all costs...

He is as special a goalkeeper as Maradona and Pele were as forwards. That is how highly I rank him. Capable of doing things miraculous and beautiful on a regular basis, which others of his position manage maybe a few times a year.

'Why should Buffon leave?'

Gigi Buffon's agent has questioned reports claiming that his client is about to leave Juventus.

The 32-year-old World Cup winner continues to be linked with a move away from Turin despite making a personal denial last week.

Speaking to Tutto Mercato Web, Silvano Martina said: “I haven't anything new to report except the things that I always repeat.

Buffon has three years left on his contract, so I don't see why he should leave Juve.

I don't read that Francesco Totti or Diego Milito are leaving their respective teams, so why should Buffon who also has a contract?

“In life anything can happen, but I repeat that for now he is a Juventus player tied to a three-year contract.
