Buffon apologises for swearing

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has apologised for swearing, which is to be clamped down according to new legislation drafted by the FIGC.

The 32-year-old was caught on camera in a foul-mouthed tirade after Genoa took the lead yesterday at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.

Juventus ended up winning 3-2, securing their first victory since January 6.

“Trial by TV for this kind of offence is due to come into operation later. The new rules are right as a question of civility and out of respect towards those who believe,” Buffon said.

“But often sport creates pressure situations that make you lose your cool, so a few uneducated words can slip out… it seems to be a difficult rule to apply.

“In that moment I was very upset for my team-mates and the fans, so I vented my feelings a little.

“Therefore I would like to once again thank Amauri and Del Piero, but also the fans who supported us again in a difficult moment.

“Now it seems that the wind has changed. But we are stronger with their support,” he concluded.

stupid FIGC. How about you clamp down on fan violence and racism before thinking of punishing players for swearing you fags.
Exactly. No swearing is a ridiculous idea for sports. Obviously these idiot suits have not experienced any exercise related hormones in a long time.

As you said, focus on the fan issues which have plagued us this season. I'm not talking about the supposedly racist chants, but the constant explosions heard in the stadium and the burning of anything in sight.

Better yet, clamp down on rampant player cheating which makes calcio a chore to watch for someone who is not used to it. The constant injury faking to kill the other teams possession or earn the other player a card is exponentially more unsportsmanlike than swearing. I love how they are always checking themselves for blood as well. Bunch of pussies.

Nazionale, De Sanctis Sorpasso a Buffon?

National team, De Sanctis to surpass Buffon?...His role as starter is up in the air.

Gianluigi Buffon believes Juventus have truly turned a corner under Alberto Zaccheroni. “Something has changed.”

The Bianconeri were in dire straits when the Coach replaced Ciro Ferrara, but so far he has amassed two draws and two consecutive victories.

“The statistics tell us that something has changed. I saw it over the last few days in a very positive and constructive attitude from the team,” said Buffon.

Perhaps an even more reassuring fact is that in the last two games Juve have fought back to grab points against Genoa and Ajax.

“It is only normal that there was a reaction in the locker room with a change of management.

“Zaccheroni is giving us tactical organisation and some important tips, but if you don’t believe in yourself, then you’ll get nowhere,” continued the goalkeeper.

“Amauri hasn’t been this happy in a long time, he just needed the right ball on his head to break the drought.”

The Brazilian striker hadn’t netted since October 28 before bagging three in the last two matches.

If ever you need evidence of how mischievous the Italian press can be, here it is.

Everyone has had their blunders this season so it's just great that despite Buffon's poor runs we managed to win. It would be shattering if he too lost confidence just when we seem to be getting the win however ugly they are.

Gianluigi Buffon insists the Europa League is important to Juventus, but “three consecutive wins have always been the norm.”

The Bianconeri seemed to end their crisis by beating Genoa, Ajax and Bologna, putting them back in Serie A’s fourth place.

The second leg of their European tie is on Thursday, a match you can watch LIVE on ITV4.

“We are going through our best moment since the start of 2010,” wrote Buffon on his personal website.

“However, for Juventus three consecutive wins have always been the norm and not the exception.

“Now we must work hard to make sure that is the case for the rest of the season, which is still long and can give us a lot to celebrate in Italy and in Europe.”

Juve welcome the Dutch maestros to Turin and have a 2-1 away result to set them in good stead for qualification.

“On Thursday the second leg against Ajax will be tough and we’ll try to put it under lock and key after last week’s fine victory in Amsterdam.

“We are all very concentrated on this game and are counting on the fans to fill the Olimpico and support us, just as they did against Genoa.

“It is an important appointment so that we can achieve qualification and continue in a tournament that means a lot to us.

“It is also valuable to maintain the growth of our self-belief ahead of a series of crucial head-to-head fixtures against Palermo, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Napoli.

“Those results could give us a major boost in the final sprint for the Champions League places.”
