Too bad they don't allow smoking on the field. I bet if Buffon could take a couple drags before a penalty kick, he'd probably save it.

Buffon thinks over big money move

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has refused to rule out a move away from the Bianconeri this summer.

The 31-year-old Italy international, who inspired the Azzurri to World Cup victory in 2006, is being courted by Manchester City.

Buffon was the subject of a colossal bid from the English outfit in January, but he rejected the move, underlining his commitment to Juventus.

The deal, said to be worth in excess of £50m, could be back on, though, according to Turin based daily newspaper Tuttosport.

They cite figures published by English bookmakers, who yesterday shortened the odds of Buffon moving to Lancashire.

When asked if he would still consider leaving the Bianconeri, Buffon replied: “If I leave Torino it will be to go abroad for a head spinning figure.”

Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli yesterday reminded Buffon that he has a contract with the Turin giants, but also told his No 1 goalkeeper that it's up to him to decide his future.

“He has a contract with Juventus, to whom he has given, is giving and will give a lot,” Cobolli Gigli said.

“He is right to reason fatalistically, though. If one day something incredible should happen, we would have to evaluate it.

“There is absolutely nothing to it at the moment,” Cobolli Gigli concluded. “But it's an intelligent idea to mull over such a thing.”

Buffon joined the Bianconeri from Parma in 2001 for a £32.6m fee that remains the highest ever paid for a goalkeeper.

'Crazy money' needed for Buffon

The agent of Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has stated that his client would only consider leaving if a “crazy offer” was received.

The Azzurri No 1 is one of Juve's most popular and influential players, but President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has confessed that he would have to consider an offer of around £50m for the ex-Parma man.

The only side who may be able to table such a sum are Manchester City, who bid a great deal more for Milan ace Kaka.

Buffon shouldn't be leaving Turin unless the club receive a crazy offer in the summer market,” representative Silvano Martina said on Radio Kiss Kiss.

Gigi is the best goalkeeper around at the moment and is bound by contract to the club until 2013.

“We will evaluate any bids that arrive, but Buffon has no great desire to leave.

“We have read that Lionel Messi could leave Barcelona for £100m so there isn't a player in the world who doesn't have his price

typical agent talking. i can name at least 5 players, who wouldn`t leave their respective clubs at any price - Maldini, Del Piero, Raul, Puyol, Giggs. And there are some more great players, that every club at some stage would want for some reasons, but they couldn`t get them for all the money in the world. of course, exceptions like Cristiano "I won`t leave Livorno for big money" Lucarelli do happen.

If someone offered 100m for any of our players (even Del Piero), we should take it.

However, realistically, we won't get any stupid offers, so we shouldn't sell senior players.
