You can see from the photo that the Newcastle player had already fallen over before Gigi hit him, which is probably why no freekick was given.

What Gigi did was clumsy and a bit chicken cos he went into the challenge in a way he wouldn't get hurt but was likely to injure the other player. Not cool.
but then again gigi was seriously injured 2 seasons ago for colliding with another player (kaka) so he was looking after himself in this case, which was right, personally it was a shame he didnt go flying with studs to face

Buffon: Wait For The Real Juve

Juventus number one Gigi Buffon has told both fans and detractors that they are yet to see the real Juventus side.

Juventus have had to live with a rather difficult start to their pre-season, with defeats to Newcastle United and Hamburger SV managing to raise plenty of questions.

The defensive abilities of the team have come under the scanner, and there have also been questions asked about the work ethic, which went down against Hamburg compared to the game in Newcastle.

However, Gigi Buffon remains positive.

"These defeats do not make us lose our calm," he insisted.

"All they do is give us another stimulus to do better. The characteristics that we will display this season are yet to be seen.

"What you see now is most certainly not the real Juve."

Fans of the Turin giants will most definitely hope so!

....and Gigi has been worth every penny!:toast:

It's a pity Craig went to Sunderland. I hope he doesn't lose his place in the Scotland team with that move.

He won't lose his place for two reasons.

First anyone playing in the premiership is almost guaranteed a start.

Second we have no other good keepers.

I hope you're right, but you've got to admit Sunderland ain't the best team in the premiership.

True, but I remember Craig was replaced in a game by a keeper from a certain "bigot brother" team and the comentators were raving about this other guy. :disagree: I didn't think he was anything special.

Sunderland ain't great but then look at guys like McCulloch and Teale from wigan last year or Alexander at Preston. Sunderland willl be better thn those clubs.

Gordon is now sooooo much better than our other keepers that he can't be dropped. In the past when Gordon had less experience it was possible to drop him but I think he is now the only irreplacable Scottish player.
