The Juventus keeper hopes to keep on playing till he is 40 years of age so that he can take part in the World Cup of 2018.
Gigi Buffon spoke to the Fifa magazine, where he confessed that his biggest desire is that of playing on till he is 40-years-old just like his idol Dino Zoff did.
"I have 28 years of age, but Zoff did much more than me," admitted the Juventus goalkeeper.
"I have always admired his loyalty to Juve and the national team. In these past years, Italy has always played a World Cup final every 12 years. I hope to still be here in 2018."
Buffon also spoke about his decision to remain with the Old Lady.
"I remained because the directors and the fans made me feel the importance of my presence in the reconstruction of the squad. The objectives were credible," declared the Italian international shot-stopper.

Alena Seredova, fidanzata del portiere della Juventus Gigi Buffon, sarebbe in dolce attesa.
L'indiscrezione arriva dal settimanale Star Tv. La coppia sta insieme da un paio d'anni. Durante la scorsa stagione, Alena si è trasferita a Torino per vivere insieme al portiere.
Ora, non resta che aspettare la data del matrimonio. A domanda precisa lei risponde: "Il matrimonio? Sono in attesa come tutti voi...".
Un mesetto fa la modella ceca era in trattativa per la partecipazione a "Controcampo", dopo due stagioni lontano dal grande schermo.
Diventata ormai espertissima di calcio, la futura signora Buffon sembrava vicina a diventare il nuovo volto femminile della trasmissione di Italia 1. Con un bimbo in arrivo, però, le prospettive protrebbero cambiare.

Sam Allardyce claims Andy Carroll was 'lucky' not to suffer a serious injury after being clattered by Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
Carroll scored in Newcastle United's 2-0 friendly win at St James' Park, but was also on the receiving end of a reckless challenge from Buffon.
The Italian keeper charged out of his box with knees and elbows raised, and crashed straight into the teenage striker, with Allardyce unhappy with the incident.
"That was as bad as Harald Schumacher's challenge on Patrick Battiston in the 1982 World Cup," said Allardyce after the game.
"It was more like common assault than anything you expect to see on a football field. Andy was lucky not to end up in hospital.
"He is a young lad who must have been thrilled at scoring against a team like Juventus, but it could all have turned very sour for him."

What Gigi did was clumsy and a bit chicken cos he went into the challenge in a way he wouldn't get hurt but was likely to injure the other player. Not cool.
