Then Marchisio too. It's not the same for Chiellini, those guys could have walked to any team if they left Juve, they were amongs the best in the world and they chose to stay and go to second tier league with a huge deficit.
Robert Kovac, Zebina, Cristian Zanetti (though he joined us in summer 2006 iirc), Legrottaglie, Giannichedda (i think), Pessotto, Birindelli, Zalayeta...
I agree with you, but only because Alex is my favourite player and really was something else. But I really would like to say Buffon because of two reasons:
1) It annoys me that attacking players always recieve the glory, when there's so much more to this game.
And the game has only evolved to the benefit of attacking players.
2) Goalkeepers are the only ones (maybe alongside defenders) I find it ok to compare with footballers from a different time, cause I think todays keepers are better, than the old ones, because of the developement of balls and a more attatcking orientated game.
I'll add a third one: He also managed to maintain a world class level from an era we all praise till todays football. That's why I also rate Maldini and Nesta ones of the best of the game.
... The Champions League is the one major trophy that Buffon has yet to add to his career and it’s rumoured a victory could make him the favourite for the Ballon d’Or.
“I am very fond of Buffon and we speak often,” continued Lippi.
“I consider him to be world class and not just as a player. At the age of 39, he’s still the best in the world. He’s world class in his playing, the way he communicates through the media, as he always knows how to say the right thing at the right time.
“He never tries to dodge a question and always gives his opinion on any issue. He’s an extraordinary guy. I really hope that Juventus win the Champions League for many reasons, but above all because it could be the right time for Buffon to take the Ballon d’Or.
“He deserves it, for spending his whole life as a champion.”
