As for Xavi passing only, that's a silly thing to say I'm sorry. That's like saying Tevez only runs, or Vidal only tackles. The guy was a key and defining player in a Barcelona side that won multiple CL's and a Spanish NT that dominated International football for six years. Xavi and Iniesta in their prime played teams off the park in a way nobody else has in the past decade. He is levels above Gerrard, even Gerrard would probably tell you that.

Xavi was much more consistent if not as spectacular in highlights as Iniesta was. Xavi controlled the tempo like no other midfielder, his first touch was excellent, his vision was exemplary, he was very good at keeping the ball, at times it looks impossible taking it off him. Above all that, and what really sets him apart, is that he was incredibly consistent. His teammates, his opponents, his coaches, opposing managers all praise him and consider him one of the best midfielders in the past decade.

Its not love, Xavi is an all time great level of midfield maestro who had a wholeera of a club and NTs historic acheivements built around the core brilliant capabilities he possessed in making a team tick and operate, completely influential and insanely vital to the dominating era with club and country. Gerrard was particularly high level great for a few years, just around the CL dominating years, to a bit earlier when he was it his most decisive. Rest of the time he was a very good/excellent box to box mid that didnt reach such levels again. Especially the further down he went in midfield, defenitely didnt have the technical capabilities and brains for CM role. His hollywood level of high action goals and crosses were at their best in younger years when he was mainly playing AM or right winger. That brief prime aside, no bussiness whatsoever being uttered together with the few players in the level of Xavi really (Pirlo, Iniesta).


Kinda typical to read you rate Iniesta as somehow in his own level above Xavi. Its allways says telling some football fans when they took notice of one but not the other, probably due to the brilliant dribbling of Iniesta, but not Xavi, who was as vital, if not more vital then Iniesta in alot of these years (Iniesta tended to dissapear in a season here or there).

Wtf is the confusion? You can tell the quality difference of players even if they dont have the same style, especially players who play in the same areas despite different approaches. They are both central midfielders most of their careers, Gerrard attacking all action box to box CM, Xavi playmaking dictating CM. Are you for real? Who said same qualities? Talking about who the better footballer is, its not complicated. We have eyes, we watch a game of football and see who the better player is at what they do, regardless of style, especially more so when they operate in the same damn exact zones of the field.

I linked that clip for fun, the very fact you would need to seriously reply about the clip like it was an argument needed to be addressed, when its two players I, and you too depending on age, have seen their ENTIRE careers of. Its clear as frigging day Xavi is the better player, who needs to seriously nitpick or analyse a clip? Bayern surely knows how to sell.
They supposedly got €20M for a 31 year old with bad ankles and one year left on his contract in Schweinsteiger.
He's done great things for Germany but Schweinsteiger hasn't played a full season within the last five years and I doubt that will change as he gets older and plays in England.

As for Bayern.
They still got Alonso, Martinez, Thiago, Alaba, Rode, Kimmich, Hojbjerg, Gaudino and Lahm, who Pep always wants to play in CM because of whatever reason.

On another note.
Today will be the first pre-season test with the Telekom Cup being held in Monchengladbach. The semifinals will be Gladbach vs HSV and Bayern vs Augsburg with the 3rd place and Final following after those semifinals.
Most teams won't have their national team players but it's still a nice start to another season.

Germany is introducing the goal line technology, what are you guys thinking about it? I am not quite sure if that is needed... I mean there are way more wrong offside calls or fake/nongiven pk, that are far more important to a game. Even every little bad call can have it's influence on the game... Would be fucked up to not get a clear pk but you concede cause of the technology
