If we do buy a true left winger, than it frees up asamoah to play more in his natural role. Keep in mind we spent mega dollars on this guy so I cant see how he cant play. Verratti is the only true replacement for Pirlo, so if we cant get him it changes everything in terms of tactics. I don't mind boosting our squad for the midfield area but I would think a more attacking midfielder would need to be looked at for creative purposes. Marchisio is the question mark though, we know he works hard and fits in the current system well enough under conte, but he still isn't world class and this is where players like Pogba will be a threat to him because if he starts more games, he will displace Marchisio and become world class in a very short time.

Someone correct me here if I'm wrong but isn't kondogbia's natural position as a cm/dm? I know he can play on the left but almost seems like a move not needed as we already have asamoah?

He is a fantastic box to box CM, controlls his domain very well, smooth with possession, bit like a young Yaya without being as aggressive forward (done very well for Sevilla in big games, weirdly enough not as well for France Y NT, been more of a strict DM there) . No real room for him here, but definitely one of the best young midfielders we can get.
