Personally, I’d likely go for the book first given that it was a seminal read from my adolescence, but I think I’ve grown less stringent on these things over the years. With the continued rise of “prestige” tv, and using series and miniseries to create what are essentially long form movies, some of the best adaptations of literature have come out in recent years. If you had plans to read the book in the very near-term, I would wait… otherwise, I don’t believe it would be such a crime. But to each their own.

I've enjoyed it so far. I think it's better than Yellowstone but some might find it boring.
It's better acted, Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Hamm are always great. It's also much more believable than Yellowstone.
After the last episode I now hate this show or at least that widdow and billy bobs son. Horrible characters.

Amid a push to perfect "casual viewing"', creatives say streaming execs are requiring them to remove nuance and visual cues, and do things like announce when characters enter a room. This is so viewers who have a program on in the background can follow along without having to miss plot strands.

I’ve been watching a number of Netflix shows with my wife over Christmas. It’s just slop. Everything is so bland, repetitive and "design by committee". You just know there are certain metrics used for every genre accounting for every minute: "if it’s an action show with no action scene in the first 5 minutes then the audience loses interest”. It's so soulless.

I enjoyed Season 2 of Squid Game, but fucking hell they have really dumbed this show down.

Watching Six Feet Under based on Tuz recommendations. Pretty good, even with the ghey love
Same. Only on episode 3 though.

Big Dexter fan so was interested in seeing Michael C hall in a different role but he is basically the same character so far
it’s class — one of the best finale’s of all times honestly

I re-watched Arcane season 1 and I really like it. The animations are incredible. Looking forward to seeing season two.

Oh and I watched an oldie with my brother this evening. Il commissario Montalbano is just beautiful. Nostalgic and a really lovely tv show.
