The show was never about the war, nor ever geared towards action. It was heavy dialogue political series with specific themes (loyalty, duty, sacrifice) slowly and subtly explored through these characters.

It was definitely anti climatic way to show things in final episode with abrupt narration. Fair criticism, but was definitely not about big action piece or it's conclusion being that.

The acting was fantastic throughout.

The whole series was literally about the build up to a Toranaga/Ishido showdown. The book itself, which the show attempts to be faithful to, includes the Battle of Sekigahara. This doesn’t, hence the disappointment.

To each their own. I found Cosmo Jarvis to be quite stiff and forced.

Agree...

He is basically just a Tom Hardy impersonator with some form of handicap.

Although I have to admit he was great in a movie with Barry Keogh called Calm with horses.

Ps. It looks like we will get a second season.

The Boys S4 is out and is more political and woke than ever! I mean WTF! Why those cunts can't do a series without trying to deepthroat people with that nonsense?! Make a movie/series take the money thank your agent and fuck off! Simple!

shows and movies have always and i mean always involved politics, religion, current trends and socio economic issues.

yes that includes super hero, fantasy and sci fi and horror.

it even makes more sense in the boys because it's supposed to be a more realistic take on super hero stories.

What are your favorite historical TV shows. i’m looking for something to watch

Mine are: Rome, The Borgias, Medici: Masters of Florence, The Tudors, Vikings, Black Sails.

Pretty much the same, Rome is the goat, Medici series is fantastic (dustin hoffman season). Few oldies too like I Claudius, Shogun, both old (80s series) and new series. Domina is another recent alright Rome series.

Last kingdom is generic/average but still decent fix for viking saxons story. Wolf hall and Pillars of Earth underrated brittish period piece tales.

Taboo, north water and the terror super underrated heavy weight class series.

Marco Polo somewhat unique topic of period/continent it covers.

US centric John Adams class, and even tho more recent periods, Deadwood and hell on wheels cover the western itch.
