Anyone watched We Own this City?

Good or woke and preachy?
Its very good so far in 3 episodes, watch it. Well up there with Tokyo vice as best new show.

It jumps a bit between timeliness like its Memento, but its really well done. And dont see what's woke about it, its about massive police corruption and a police unit that are basically gangsters.

The first two episodes are super woke.

Meh, not sure what people mean with woke, except the legal group investigating the corruption being a civil rights group.

But for story wise, it needs to focus little more on general characters, instead of right now jumping back and forth timelines on the corruption. Makes it feel like a documentary a bit. But quite promising production so far, hopefully becomes more character focused.

@JCK have you seen episode 4 of we own the city yet? It was crazy good, especially last scene in dinner in the boot (Berenthal will win awards for his Jenkins role).

Also crazy is how its almost frame by frame taken right out of real events, down the details and character names. This Baltimore journalist compares the real stuff with the episodes every time.

Oh , I thought you had, I guess it was Tokyo vice we discussed. When you start you in for a treat episode 4. Felt fully like The wire season 6 episode
It's on my list. There is a lot at the moment and my binging skills are on a dip. I wil start it soon.

Yeah its kinda alot in this spring release, its all over the place with new shows or new seasons. Watching and not finished new season of Snowfall, started with and only few episodes into new shows like From, Severance, Outer range, we own the city, tokyo vice, moon knight (only episode left on this, it was so scattered I stretched the time of finishing it). Also need to see new season of Atlanta, heard great things about it, saving it til the above ones are done. Only new show I finished is Lincoln Lawyer, but that was so basic and casual series was easy to binge quick.

And also because of the Michael Connelly book connection of Lincoln Lawyer (read both book series) started watching an older cousin show of Lincoln Lawyer: Bosch. Why it took me this long to watch it? 9 episodes in and its so good (not a typical police procedure show like I thought) , great cast, top lead and basically the producer of The Wire making it (George Pelecano), with tons of The Wire actors.
