Gave The Last Kingdom a fresh start since I had dropped it the first time, because of as I remember now an overlap with Vikings back then. Towards the end of Season 1 I feel like TLK has a nice flow to it and doesn't abuse plot twists and over the top violence to drive it forward. Biggest flaw is the rather unlikable protag and generally I ended up siding with the heathen invaders and was rooting for Ubba when he RIP'd. I like that many battles are off-screen, reminds me of Rome. Battles and fights really are the most boring part of shows and movies, especially since most shows don't care about historical accuracy of battles. But I enjoy the scenery for sure. Dialogues serve the purpose to drive the plot in a natural way which is nice. Obviously I begin to hate that christian soy talk, Ubba will be missed in that regard as well. TLK strongsuit clearly is the compelling storytelling of the conflict situation in general and everybody's roles and moves in particular. Unlike in Vikings one actually gets the idea of what's happening on a bigger scale and the narration is paced in a a way that it accelerates when you want it to accelerate and slows when you need to digest. As a whole TLK is only slightly weaker than the best viking show out there (Norsemen)

Yeah, also it's not a nice feeling when that 8 season blockbuster you watched for a long time comes to an end.
Totally forgot GoT ever existed, my brain seems to have wiped it from the harddrive. Last week (don't laugh) I attempted to make a list of all TV shows I have ever watched up to this point, and from the top of my head I put down 60 or so before GoT even came up, even some obscure shows like Sleeper Cell, Hung, Better off Ted surfaced before GoT.
