Well it's very different from the Hannibal movies for sure. Maybe better to just judge it independently from them.

And I can definitely get why people wouldn't like the series. The plot is weird, and the dialogue can come across as cheesy. But I just love the atmosphere and aesthetic it creates, unique in that regard for me.
Also Mads Mikkelsen is fantastic as Hannibal.

Which might be okay for some tv shows, but Hannibal? It's one of the few that shouldn't have that in it tbh.

Anyway, I'm gonna start watching Twin Peaks. For the first time. :shifty:

Cheesy is probably not the right term, more like over-the-top.

Not that I'd agree, but I can see why people would feel that way.

Its not great but its quite good indeed, LOVE LOVE the mongol setting so was gutted it was cancelled. I console myself by reading Conn Igguldens Mongols series about same period (strictly Mongols, no Polo shit).

me too, the culture and empire are fascinating. The show was doing a good job in displaying how culturally rich Asia is. What I liked the most was, even if a significant part of the story is fiction, the attention to details and the depth of the show. Sometimes the plot was not surprising, but very good all the same.

Interesting characters such as Hundred eyes, Yusuf, Lotus, Sidao, Kublai, Chabi, etc. Awesome fight scenes. Legendary Silk Road, power plays, politics, the Hashashin... I'll miss it

Btw is that Mongol series good/historically accurate?

Yeah will miss that for sure (less of the soapy sappy melodrama tho), they really used the huge budget well in their visual detail and landscape, but I guess thats what killed the series, give it GOT level budget without being popular much.

And yeah the books are fairly accurate, tho he takes few liberties with Ghengis childhood years because we know so little of it in detail (4 books starting from ghengis childhood up to Kublai china/ME invasions). But rest are fairly straight forward, more accurate then the tv series in parts. It has my favourite, Ghengi's greatest General Subotai :touched:

Currently watching Twin Peaks.

Watched 9 episodes and I'll say this: one of the best, if not the best, tv show that I ever watched.

Full review to come once I finish it :p

My favourite show of all time. I will say that the quality dips for a number of episodes after David Lynch left the show a few episodes into the second season. But he returned for the last episode and made it all worthwhile as it's a brilliant one.

So psyched that season 3 is only a month away.

I heard that just a couple of weeks ago. Can't say I'm excited simply because... well... it can't be good :boh: I expect it to be shit. Hopefully I'm wrong.

For me Hannibal didn't work because of Hugh Dancy (Will Graham). Such a miscast imo. Didn't get me hooked one bit...and it's not that i didn't try, i even managed to like Benedict Cumberbatch :D

Yeah, I watched the whole season for a few days. Although it's a teenage drama, it's really hooking and entertaining with a minor amount of gaps in the script and acting.
It's fucking annoying that all high school kids in netflix shows believe they have the deepest emotions known to man.

Ffs, teens in real life do not have that much hybris.

And then there's the neverending societal criticism. We get it, Netflix, you think social media are dangerous.
