"Only" thing? Was there an Atheist Inquisition that I missed studying about in history class?

Also, aren't you essentially proselytizing to misguided atheists with that very post? And how would you differentiate proselytism and the practice of imparting ideas, as described in the declaration of human rights?

Maybe I'm missing some background on the Hindus' great Inquisition.

And no -- proselytizing is the use of doctrine or dogma to actively attempt to convert someone's belief system to another belief system. Or to attempt to convince that one's belief system is superior or more valid than another's. I am not exactly doing that here.

What I am doing is pointing out that many atheists think they're the unique snowflakes of the world and are somehow different, separate, and superior to any existence of religious belief -- while oblivious to the fact that they are following the precise recipe formula for religious belief.

I'm basically calling out their hypocrisy.

That's where I disagree. Most atheists that I know promote ideas like free thinking & critical thinking, while others propagate their ideas through rational discussion. Far cry from the religious proselytism that involves door-to-door promotion, setting up churches and sending out missionaries to convert people, Bible verses on public billboards, offering aid to the needy in exchange for attending church, requiring conversion before marriage or using fear to prevent apostacy. I think labelling what atheists are doing as proselytism is very harsh. Inappropriate even.

Maybe some atheists got cocky by thinking their belief is superior, sure. But I hope you don't end up stereotyping atheists in general due to that.

Because science is not an atheist concept. It's independent of it. The only people stupid enough to reject the scientific process are theists who are biased towards a primitive means of gaining knowledge: god and revelation.
