Good news, a pathetic attempt at curbing free speech has been checked.

No matter how much you dislike what he said, jailing him for exercising his freedom of speaking would have been contrary to our values, in the West at least.

Keep telling yourself that. I know we use this card a lot, but hey its valid. If you guys valued free speech so much, there wouldn't be laws against denying the holocaust, and Irving would not have been jailed.

I oppose those laws.

There is absolutely no reasons why Mr. Wilders should be jailed. He criticizes a religion, which is perfectly valid if you ask me.

All religions, ideologies, ideas and so on deserve and should be criticized since they are all imperfect.

I don't like Geert Wilders much but he has the right to say what he wants.

As long as you're consistent, i'm completely ok with that opinion. So just to make sure we have things straight: You think David Irving was wrongfully imprisoned, and that holocaust denial laws should be removed, yes?

He spreads hate and is a fearmongerer, wish it stopped at criticising a religion. Alot of people do. Not alot of people are grade a bigots who literally make a society more hateful one with their endevours.

Note, do not think he should been jailed/trialed (many muslims dont btw), just gave him alot of needed attention, very wrong way to approach his BS. But to just deem him as someone who criticises religion is totally missing the point of what this guy is about.

I don't want to be offensive to anyone here but...

The hundreds of death threats from Muslims that he has received in the last few years, which obligates him of being under 24/7 protection actually proves that he has a point. The fact that his life is under threat for criticizing a religion certainly underlines the problem of many Muslims claiming the special right of not to be offended.

I believe that there are serious problems related to the lack of integration of Muslims immigrants in Europe.

However, Geert Wilders does not tackle it the right way. For instance, several of his propositions are absolutely ridiculous (such as banning the Quran).

Muslims can't seem to take a joke, that's a fact. The fact that the Danish cartoonist is also under constant death threats from Muslims is why I'm all for making fun of the religion. If everybody is, then perhaps they'll just learn to live with it.

This isn't heartless. If your religion is not accepting of freedom of speech, then that's your problem. Live in an Islamic state.
