His home country? Has he actually lived there?

Ask yourself why he hasn't lived there.

Also, i've never actually lived in Libya, other than the occasional one month visits almost every summer. I still consider it my only real home.

Like Iceman said, you Westerners will probably never relate to our concept of "home country".

It's your country from origin and where you live today, we(westerners) consider that as your homecountry. At least i do. I can also say that my home country is Spain because my ancestors came from there....

I lived in Scotland, Malaysia and the UAE, mostly in the UAE and Scotland. Which is my country then?

I never lived in Libya, but my family moves around quite a lot. Where am i from then?

Should we sentence people to life in prison before they commit crimes based on the assumption that they'd do it if they could?
Not a death sentence but if situation is certain, somebody should prevent them committing crime. Even though it sounds funny, their leaders have a dream about world domination and turning other people to slaves.

I don't care, i'm just interested to see where they think i'm from. I can't be Scottish i left that country when i was 8, i barely remember the country, and i've long since lost touch with my childhood friends. I can't be Malaysian, i lived in that country for less than 4 years, i can't be an Emirati for obvious reasons(at least obvious to anyone thats been in this region)

You're from Scotland, Malaysia and whatever country you lived in for a couple of years. You're also from hell.

Simply put, the logic of you being from wherever you live, it doesn't work in this part of the world. We still have that nationalistic feeling where you feel attached to your original homeland for all your life. Plus, in this region you could live all your life in the UAE be born and raised here, know no other country, and still you won't ever get the nationality. One could argue that with the demographics here, and with their special circumstances, they do kind of have a point.

All credit goes to Seven here. He has illuminated your past and made you realize that you're not from where you thought.

You just answerred your own question. The country you currently live in is your home country. When you go to a bank and fill in an application form which asks: Home country, you fill in the country where you live at that moment correct?

Like if i moved to Qatar that would be my home country and not my country of origin because that will always be the Netherlands.

Home country, country of residence, country where your house is, isn't it just playing with words?
