This is a different scenario though. The Religion that dominates moral viewpoint in this society allows hate for homosexuals to propagate freely. As long as religions play a point here, we will have this problem.
I don't like segregation either, but this is a harder problem to tackle than just having schools crack down on tolerance issues. Schools cracked down on drugs and classroom clowns, but the police are still being called and the detention doors are always open.
We don't live in a perfect world. I would love it if all high schools were gay tolerant but the sad reality is that they are not. One of my good friends is gay. I love him to death but I hear all his stories of high school. It pains me to see people having to go through this stuff. I don't think the school should be all gays. I don't want them to be segregated but people do deserve to grow up without having to being hated for who they are. If the schools are not going to do everything in the power to keep these teens from having to go through that discrimination, I think that a gay student should have the right to go to an environment where he/she can be comfortable. High school should not be torture. I have heard so many stories of gay high school students committing suicide and things like that. I bet they would have dreamed of going to a school where people treated them like they were normal.
I don't want them to be segregated. I just think it would be nice for them to have the option of a safe haven.
there is no reason why they should get their own school
in 20 years or so when being gay is accepted or the norm (kinda like how it was with blacks are now compared to 20-30 years ago) there will be another group of ppl that will be the new social minority. perhaps it will be ppl who sneeze out loud or kids with high-speed internet at home.
regardless of who or what, the answer is not to segregate them. life is about diversity and exposure to it. the reason why most ppl are ignorant (like ppl down south for example) is because they were never exposed to many things. thats why when they get to college their dawson's creek world is destroyed at orientation.

I see what you mean. I can see that it could do harm for some. I just don't see what the difference is between a gay high school and all girl schools, all boy schools, catholic schools, islamic schools, black colleges, etc. No one should be forced to be segregated but I don't think an option should be seen as so horrible.
There's this gay in my school, I don't know where the hell he popped up from, but it scares me each time I see him staring at me, and I think he's planning to rape me pretty soon.
