It'd be creepy if anyone in my team (especially in such a contact sport as football) admitted that he was gay, and I'd probably vote for him to get kicked out of the team, so that I could concentrate on the game not watch my back all the time. I've nothing against gays, but they just shouldn't advertise their sick lifestyle through sports (and that's what they would do if they admit it in public), so they better keep it silent. I much rather read a Legro or Kaka t-shirt about religion than see some famous gay quote after a great goal.
Just because somebody is gay doesn't mean they are gonna try to sneak a feel on you during a match, this whole idea that gays are all sexual deviants who live perverted lifestyles is stupid and has no place in intelligent society. I'm not saying that everybody has to accept gays but they should at least be tolerated and treated with the respect that you treat any human.

And what are you on about when you say they advertising their lifestyle? Its not like kids watching football are going to see a gay player and suddenly want to turn gay themselves. People are born gay or straight its not a lifestyle choice, I hear the same crap from conservatives in my country about how accepting gays is going to promote more people to "turn gay" and its nonsense.

to kyle: do you actually read what people write on here or do you just regurgitate your socialization?
So because I live in California I have been brainwashed to accept gays? Unlike most of the people commenting here I actually know some openly gay people and that is how I have formed my opinion on them.

no you re polarizing the issue without reading what people say, for instance i'm asking on what basis should we be ok accepting someone coming out as gay at the job but not someone coming out saying i like getting blown while taking dumps? whats the relevance of such information at the job? so it's not an issue of whether you accept someone or not it's an issue of consistency, and deeper at the root of it of personal freedoms.

I see what you are getting at but I don't think that admitting you are gay is comparable to telling somebody what specifically gets you off.

Sexual desires shouldn't be discussed in the workplace as they are not relevant, I agree with you that gays shouldn't be coming out to everyone they work with for no reason but they shouldn't be forced to lie about what is such a big part of who they are either for fear of losing their job.
