It's mentioned at least a couple times in the first season that Theon is a "hostage." I don't know if I would say he has a right, the Greyjoys rebelled and lost, and Theon's transfer to the Starks were part of the terms of the peace. There can be no honor in his actions, especially after he pledged his support to Robb Stark as king of the north and returned home as an agent of Robb Stark to attempt to convince his father to join the Starks against the Lannisters and King Joffery.
