But would you go into a season with just the three? It's too risky, just look what happened this season with injuries. It was getting ridiculous at one point.
3 + a promising youngster that will learn from them.

i think gallas would be great. with 3 centre backs well in there 30's now, we need some experienced defenders who have a good 3 or season good seasons left in them..ie. sagnol and gallas.

im hoping the french connection will help persuade him to join. If he does join, it wouldnt surprise me if a player like Thuram moved on as he is really entering his last seasons in his career. Kovac's lack of playing time may see him want to move to club where he sees his last playing days on teh field rather than the bench.

True, but we dont really know even if Chelsea is willing to sell.
Gallas will be a free agent after this season, unless he extends his contract.
However so far nothing has proceeded into that direction, so once again if Gallas indeed would join us, it would be a free signing.
And I think that is the very reason why Gallas is being supposely pursued by us.
If we really end up getting him on a free transfer, oh by all means I be more than happy.

Actually, I think his contract expires in 2007. Or does it?

His contract ends in 2007...he can pay the rest of his salary to Chelsea and leave on a free in 2006...just like Henry. ;)

Sort of like what Vieri did at Inter? They mutually rescinded the contract? Or in this case Gallas just doesnt get the 2007 salary because of his move to Juve?

I don't see us having Thuram, Gallas, Cannavaro and Kovac for 2 spots. It would create tension between them. Gallas is known to be a whiner.
TBH, I'm not sure whom I would pick between Gallas and Kovac...We all know we're not gonna sell Thuram, he's gonna be a bench player which is a good thing IMO.

we have to choose between Sagnol and Gallas, for know,
i say,we sould sign Sagnol this year and wait untill Thuram retires,
see if Sagnol live's up to the expectations and Gallas is 100% free next year,
if he leaves early we can always find someone else like Chivu instead...
