We don't need Chivu to play left-back for us now because Chiellini will be taking the role at Juventus for the next few years. As Stuart stated Gallas is by far the superior player to Barzagli...can't believe somebody would prefer an unproven player to one who has performed at the highest levels of European football and excelled. Just doesn't make any sense to me. Gallas on a free is like picking up a hundred dollar bill lying on the street...you look like an idiot just letting it sit there.

So you guys would dump Lilian in a heartbeat? The guy gave everything he had to Juve dudes.

Gallas will join a team to be a starter. My guess. LYON.

btw, I'd take him anyway. :p

Exactly, I mentioned it earlier, all these new centre backs can be new Leggros, Gallas is proven, I'd take him anyday over all the Barzaglis and other that have been linked. Chivu would be a great sub as well, we should get rid of these Gayrocks and Nedved lookalikes.

It wouldn't be dumping him. He's 33 and won't be able to play every minute of every game in a season and within 2-3 years he'll probably be gone. And don't forget he could get injured.

The thing is that Kovac would take his place if he loses his touch. Gallas would be great but we need to find youngsters for the future man.

also, when I think about the post Canna-Nesta with the NT...

I mean, I don't see Coda, Canini and Bovo playing with Italy in WC or EURO tournaments as starters. Very hard to find great D's these days.

mourinho says that gallas is free to leave this summer. Viera and thuram have invited him to come to juve

Apparently he would only cost 7 mill pounds- something to do with FIFA's new transfer rules?
Hardly. They don't apply if the player is over 22. I thought his contract is up? If that's the case, he's really free.

    Why not? :D

Just kidding but Lilian isn't getting any younger and he is showing signs of deterioration performance wise. I think that we should slowly start to phase out Thuram this season by giving Kovac, who has been the superior player up to now, more playing time. Cannavaro isn't exactly a young gun either and there is a lot of football to be played these days. Having four quality centre backs in Gallas, Thuram, Kovac and Cannavaro will allow us to be even more competitive on all fronts.
