Guys here is the problem. You guys think ur country's team suck and that why u support Juve? Hollyyyy Molyyyyy. For example: If Italian army is stronger than Polish army and they happen to try to invade or take away something Poland will u cheer for Italian Army or Poland army? This divides Turks. Even if Galatasaray cant win a single game in 1 billion years still we will unconditionally support it. I know this is an entertainment but it is VERY EASY to PICK A STRONG team. Where is the challenge? Its like me picking Real Madrid now that Beckham is there. I dont know but do u guys see the point just a bit? please let me know and i know that everyone is free to choose whatever they like and everybody is different.
Welcome to the forums Kenan.
Okay, I think everyone's point's a bit different. I know what you mean by your example, but I think this is a
bit different from armies

Again, this is entertainment. Sure, Turkey has a decent football culture, and people in the country are passionate about the game, and there's a deep rivalry between two teams with great histories. This is different from the situation in a lot of countries, including my own. In Australia, the most popular sports are rugby and cricket, and that's why the standard of the game is so low... nobody gives a $#!^ about football in this country... heck, we even have a different name for the game over here (soccer). It's easy to support a team when half the people in the city support that team, and you can have a go at your friends after your team beats theirs, but that's just not a possibility where I live.
I can't go over to my friends and say "HAHA, SYDNEY OLYMPIC BEAT PERTH GLORY", because nobody gives a damn about the league. The situation's so bad that 'professional' players hardly get paid, their income from being a footballer isn't enough to live on, so they have to run fish and chip shops on the side. Now this is hardly the ideal sort of culture in which to support your local team.
And I think many of us (including myself) don't support Juventus because they get easy results. I personally started supporting this team because I watched them play, back when I had cable TV, and I liked how they played, but you can hardly call me a glory-hunting bandwagon rider, because that was in the season we came 6th, and subsequently, I didn't even know that they were the best team in Italy, and I knew nothing about their previous titles and great footballing history. Now if I wanted to support a popular side that I could actually watch easily, I would've chosen Moneyche$ter United or the Gooners, because the English PL gets good coverage over here, whereas the only time I get to see Juventus is if I follow their live scores online at 4 in the morning, which I do.
I think I rambled on a bit there, but the point is that not all supporters of major teams just choose that team because they're succesful, but they just feel that they're going for that team. If you watch any sport, you subconsciously find yourselves willing a certain team to win, and if you see that team enough, you eventually start wanting to know more and you follow their progress, which is what happened with me. If I asked 50 Australians, I wouldn't bet a single dollar that one of them knows what the heck Juventus is.
BTW guys, keep it cool, take it easy and please keep the swearing to a minimum, even if it's in another language.
