We need to keep our youngsters. We have spent a lot of time developing this youngsters so why on earth would we give them up for a 27 year old late bloomer?
I agree we should get d'ago...I think he is a great player but not at the expense of our youngsters why not rather give them two of tiago/poulsen/almiron or our "not so promising youngsters"? Besides, it would be completely contradictory to what blanc said today regarding our youth policies....
I think d'ago will add a lot to our team when you actually think about what our midfield lacked last year not to mention he will be taking so much pressure off our defense. Just look how Italys defense constantly looked for him to give the ball too and how he constantly put himself in position to receive it AND on top of that he WANTED the ball. A player like that is a good release valve for a defense where they won't have to boot the ball upfield as often if not ever unless an emergency clearance. I am looking forward to this signature a lot actually. The guy is good and he is accurate with the passing both short and long.

Do you deny the fact that once we get him Marchisio sill be permanentlty benched?
Do you consider Dago as a huge upgrade to Marchisio, worthy of all that money?
Do you believe that Dago has more potential, than Marchisio?
Will you happy to see us off loading DC, just like we did with Balza and keep Molinaro as a starter?
These are the facts and you cant ignore them with wishful thinking like:
-despite spending anything we have to overpay for Dago, we will still have the cash to buy some starter defenders.
-You are only assuming that Marchisio will have the playing time he had this year, if Camo, Poulsen and Dago are all above him in the pecking order!
-DC If co owned will play with them anyway for the next year and we are stucked with Molinaro.
Criscito might, or might not coming back and he might be used as LB or CB.
-some new LB like Dossenz will join and it will be better than Moli and more promising than DC...
These are all but assumptions from the fans, our history/stategy does not guarantees us that they are happening, quite the opposite actually! But they are taken as granted, only to add to the hype.

To make transfer money from them or barter when we want access to some of the best players in the league, for one.
Youth teams have multiple purposes. Unfortunately, many let sentimentality get in the way of good thinking. This sentimentality is also why we spend 98% of our time in transfer threads talking about who we should acquire and only 2% on who we should sell off to afford that other 98%.
If we followed this line of logic, this club would have to float 74 players -- 59 of whom would do little more than warm the bench, draw a salary, and sell player kits at juvestore.com with jersey numbers in the 70s and higher.
Because when it comes to youth teams, I like them -- yes. But does that mean every member of the squad has to be shackled to us as a Juve player for life, even if the player never peaks better than a Raffaele Palladino, just because we're worried about his "potential" that may or may not ever come?
Youth squads serve a lot of purposes. Only one, and a narrow one, is to groom some of the best fit players for your future adult squad. There are many other reasons besides.
At the expense of who, then? Amauri? Buffon? Chiellini? How do you explain how we are going to fund the purchase of one of Serie A's top midfielders this season in a fair deal that someone else would actually consider taking?
Who in their right mind would trade Tiago or Poulsen or Almiron for D'Agostino? How do you explain a 20 million euro signing can be funded by 5-10 million euro players offered in exchange? Where do you think the extra money is going to come from?
And even if we had this extra money lying around, how could we afford to carry/keep some multi-million-euro signings on the bench for the most part so we can field these additional signings ... letting these current player investments rot?

Don't overrate our youngsters. If they are good, they will be good and we can always bring them back. We are not selling De Ceglie permanently and tt's not like if Santon were in our team, we'd use him to get D'Agostino anyway.
Ideally, next season we should have a new LB with one of Molinaro or De Ceglie as backup. Molinaro has proved to be a decent backup and De Ceglie won't improve his defensiveness by sitting on the bench (Once your starting defensive line is confirmed, you don't change it every other day).

D' Ago himself was a youth reject, you can bet a mile that Roma are regretting ever having offloaded their half across to Messina. Youth are good, but although agree majority will end up useless and playing at lower league clubs till end of their career. There are some here however who deserve the clubs attention otherwise we wont be nothing more special than the likes of Real Madrid or any other club who dont recognise anyone but a big house hold name. (Not that we have any finances to ever compete on that level).
Dont get me wrong though I think there lies a good balance between and Arsenal/Ajax and Real Madrid. The board wanna draw their path towards the youth, its enough to salivate a lot of us in hope we can see one of our "own" rise up. But thats far from the story, if some of these kids who we may end up getting rid of have potential then why not keep them? Weve been lucky in the past to have got rid of youth who ended up becoming worthless with the exception of perrota. Im just hoping we play our cards right on this one...
