It seems the board wanted a playmaker, but Ranieri didn't want Xabi because he was too slow, and it seems that D'Agostino was too slow too, so Ranieri opted for another destroyer to, as he said, "field a powerful attack".

The only player we need to buy from Udinese is Inler. We need quality for next season. I rate Inler very high at almost the same level as Hamsik. Just imagine something like this for next year...

------------------defence--------------------

---marchisio----momo----inler/hamsik----

-----------------Diego/Gio-------------------

-----------Amauri------------Trezeguet----

This will be one hell of a team. We just need another good mc and our midfield for next year seems very good. Hamsik or Inler please. No need to waste money in mediocre players...

It also seems that Nedved left because our board didn't offer him a better contract... I'd like to say, not everything is what they seem like...

No, he didn't say antything about D'Agostino, but since Alonso isn't slow at all I presume he wanted another all-round destroyer rather than a more "static" deep-lying playmaker in his team, which makes possible D'Agostino's rejection (what is reported now) highly probable.

Of course we didn't, Liverpool waited to finalise Barry deal. But after the deal failed, Ranieri said he *chose* Poulsen and gets full resposibility for his tactical choice, so this means he had a choice - possibly board looked for another, easier option to buy a regista.
And if he said that Alonso was too slow and too risky "because of our wingers who don't come back to help the defence", then he would have vetoed the deal even if we had the possibility to buy him, just like he rejected "some other option" when he chose Poulsen. I think it's quite logical.

Cobolli: "It's not a lie saying we're interested in D'Agostino but we're also thinking about other players."

Either this or he came up with the "too slow" shit just to make Poulsen feel like plan A and like a player the team really needed.
Afterall, you can't say "We wanted player X and player Y, but since we couldn't buy them we opted for Poulsen".

NOOO.. don't give Giovinco for this guy

It can be another Almiron, played one season wonder and become flop next season
Is our never learn something? Just give them Almiron as the player exchange and it's done deal

If we sign this guy its because we will go for a 4-3-1-2 formation I think..

We really need to sell Tiago and atleast one other Cm (Poulsen) if we are about to sign another!
