Marrone had a good season with a Serie B side, he's shown promise for longer with better teams. He's more mature and Conte has worked with him. He deserves his chance by now. Appelt is exciting but I wouldn't choose him over Marrone.

If Marrone was really good, Conte would demand him in the squad. I'm not saying he's bad, but I wasn't also very excited when I saw him with the NT.

I don't know. I saw a fair few games of his while I was in Italy and he seemed good to me. He had a promising performance or two for our first team last season. Besides, a young CDM has more of a chance to play than an attacking one. None of those young CMs will start and it will take a rare situation to need to sub a player like Appelt on. We would have to be drawing or losing, with no other CM options and we would have around 5 next season. If we managed to have comfortable leads at any point in the season that would be an opportune time to give a young CDM some playing time. Marrone will suit the 4-2-4 and he knows it well. That's if Conte chooses to stick with it.

Sounds like bullshit. Don't think we ever came to an agreement with Udinese. Also, apparently Conte liked Inler, but with Marotta's "champion" Pirlo having arrived, Conte must rethink how he'll accommodate him.
