I'm not saying Fergie isn't a great manager, definitely one of the best in the history of football. But saying there are no current coaches who can compare with him, is IMO an overstatement, as one has a good case with both Cap and Trap. Over and out, good night folks.

The two leagues are completely separate, just as they are now.

Scotland and England, as footballing entities, as just as individual as, say, France and Spain.

No link between them at all.

I never said there aren't ones who can be compared; just that there isn't anyone better.

The styles have always been similar, but not having lived through the 80's, I can't say much about the styles at that point.

The standard of scottish football is very, very low compared to the standard of english football. That is the major difference in the way they play. Its also why you don't see many scottish players playing anywhere but scotland...though I suppose you could say that very few english players move abroad...but...that is partly due to the strength, popularity and financial incentives of the premiership.

The great managers do consistently well in the hardest leagues where the standard of football is high. That is one definition, for me, of 'great manager'. Its difficult to compare too many managers with ferguson, because he has won everything and shown for many years that he is a very strong man manager, as well as tactically intelligent and capable. he creates teams which play attractive football. Only managers who have managed at a similar level, can be compared...I mean, I could say that some english league two managers are great, but they can't be compared to Ferguson, for they have never been given the opportunity, or never earned the opportunity to build a dynasty a la Man United.

I see Wenger as a Great, cappello, Hiddink, Ferguson...Trap is a great of old for me. There are probably germans to consider and perhaps include as I have always been a big fan of Hitzfeld. Mourinho is obviously very talented, but like the other world famous portuguese star, Ronaldo, he lacks class, so neither wioll ever be considered truly great, by my reckoning, no matter what they win. for they are human vermin...

Scotsman are more hardy, than their southern counterparts. The blood lines have been less diluted with piss weak, but nasty clever fuckers...so the Warrior nature has remained more or less intact. This is why, I think, Scotsman are more rugged, both as players and managers. They come from a harder place...I am not saying that the English, in muscle, spirit or bloodlines essentially are necessarily weaker...but there are less % of warriors, and warrior like integrity in England. That loss of % is not used up with always negative traits, but often...The scots I have known have proven far more regularly Honest and Upfront, than the english I have known. Obviousl, I have much more to judge the english upon as I have lived there for around 21 of my 31 years, whereas I only lived in scotland for a year, when i was 3. Anyway, Red, that is my theory. I drifted away from football, but had to, in order to make sense to myself, first and foremost. Both countries have a lot of scum. I just feel that Scotland has more honour and integrity, produces more respectful Leaders of men, than in england.

I hate to say it but it looks like my fears all the way back from January have been confirmed. The board's ineptness at luring the first top manager they approach has forced a knee jerk reaction signing of Del Neri.

He should do a good enough job to reestablish the team and get us back in the CL but for another season I don't see any serious scudetto challenge.

why is this any more confirmed than benitez and hiddink was lol, same with prandelli. i dont htink we will get del neri. has rafa officially said he was staying? all i can see is "if everything is ok i will stay", "if i say we wont sell gerrard and torres" if being the keyword.

If he does come he might be able to turn us around but with having no experience in winning things it will be tough. it makes me sad to see us clawing for mediocre coaches. I just hope we have more luck in luring some decent players.

I dont see us having the clout to get top level players like Silva, Torres, RVP, Cesc. But I do think we can get very good players who are still big stars but not to the highest level. Like Mata, Sagna, Rossi..

I just dont understand why we dont just make an agreement with a top coach who is going to the World Cup and could be free after. I would rather have Capello, Lippi or Sven. Even if they miss out of helping us rebuild and start preseason late they are a hell of alot better then the ppl we are linked with. Like if we bought players before the world cup based on advice from one of the coaches then they could come after the WC and start their work. Thats what I would do if I was hiring.
