Benoit Tremoulinas is also proving time and time again what a quality fullback he is. I am starting to believe he is ready for the step up to a bigger team. Maybe you guys should have a look at him to solve your fullback problem. He stifled Bastos today, and made several forward runs too, his crosses were always worrying for Lyons defense. It was his cross that created the chance for Chamakh's goal.
Absolutely. Tremoulinas looks like the next big full-back export out of the Ligue for sure, at the moment.

Yeah, watched this whole game (habit watching Ligue 1 now due to the channel showing their games instead of Serie A's sunday night games...), and I expected more, but tedious, but interesting in parts. Main reason to watch it, besides the big game, was Pjanic. Would also been nice if Tafer played bit more.
Tafer is one talented mofo. Watch out for him this year, he's going to be getting plenty of cameos i'm sure.

Bordeaux are such an organized and compact team. Blanc has got them playing some good football.

Did you guys see Ludovic Sane? His first ever game for Bordeaux because Ciani got injured in the warm up and Henrique is still out with a long term injury. He played his first ever professional game today and he was an absolute beast. He manhandled Lisandro and completely took him out of the game, its been a long time since i've ever seen a defender mark out a striker this well. Lisandro barely got a sniff.
If this isn't the best name ever, I don't know what is.

Bordeaux play away to Monpellier today. Two extremely tough away games in one week. If Bordeaux win this game too, they will be going into the winter break with a big advantage. They still have to play away to Toulouse as well, so its not going to be an easy ending to 2009.

Bordeaux is having a tough time breaking down Montpellier. Gourcuff missed a penalty in the end of the first half. Its the 4th penalty they miss this season

But Montpellier's DM's and defense is doing a great job against Bordeaux, they are completely containing Bordeaux's play and limiting them to long meaningless balls up to the isolated Chamakh.

Emir Spahic and Nenad Dzodic are doing a great job in containing Chamakh and Gourcuff. The former has been absolutely brilliant this season whenever i've watched him play for Montpellier.

Will be interesting to see how Bordeaux respond in the second half.

Entertaining game between Monaco and Lyon today. Ended 1-1, with Monaco playing the better game.

Bastos scored a wonderful goal from a free kick. He just blasted it in the top corner. Despite the goal he scored he was rather anonymous for the rest of the game. He has been uncharacteristically poor in the last month or so, though admittedly Lyon as a whole have not been performing well as of late.

Lisandro and Pjanic were marked out of the game too. So was Sidney Govou who in Djimi Traores pocket today. Traore who was a big flop in the EPL has been really consistent for Monaco this season, one of the Ligues better fullbacks actually.

Monaco played a really good game today, their counter attacking football is a joy to watch. Plus the flicks and tricks from Nene and especially Yohan Mollo who was devastintingly enjoyable to watch today. What a player this kid is, he might not be the most effective of players as he still doesn't have good enough end product, but his dribbling and tricks are just out of this world. I would watch Monaco for the sole reason that this kiddo is playing.

He even did a nice rabona today.

Very interesting game tomorrow between Toulouse and Bordeaux. Toulouse despite being in 13th place this season has a reputation for beating the big boys in the Ligue so the game should be really competitive.

Will be interesting to see the personal battle between Sissoko and Gourcuff too:cool:

Took the words out of my mouth, should be an interesting game, especially that battle in the middle of the park. André-Pierre Gignac up against the Bordeaux defense will be a test of his worth too.

Fred, what you think about Jerko Leko being linked with Chel$ki?

I think if Chelsea were to get him, he would just be a stop gap measure because of the ANC.

He's hardly getting any games at all for Monaco this season. He has been relegated to the bench ever since Lacombe took over. Lacombe has preferred the younger and more dynamic duo of Nkoulou and Cedric Mongungo.

Exactly as I thought, just as a back-up for covering while their gone. Found that funny because The Sun labbled him Chel$ki's top transfer target so I was puzzled. Yeah, it's actually quite exciting at Monaco along with those two, especially so when you add Yohan Mollo to the equation.

Speaking of young promising players,

Ludovic Sane has been an absolute revelation for Bordeaux in the first few games of his career.

Many of you might not know him as this is his first season promoted to the first team. But he had his debut against Lyon last week, imagine that, his first game was against the best team in the country for the past decade and against one of the deadliest strikers in Europe lately Lisandro Lopez. He marked Lisandro out of the game and made him look like an amateur. After that he has gone on to play some excellent games against Montpellier and Lorient.

Very impressive player. He's 22 years old and he's just been promoted to the first team and got his luck because of injuries to Ciani and Henrique the two CB's. As a 22 year old he's a late bloomer but doesn't take anything away from him. He's been amazing.

Another player that doesn't seem like he is getting the recognition he deserves is Monaco's Johan Mollo. Very entertaining player, i would watch Monaco matches just for him. He can play on either wing and as demonstrated against Lyon he can play behind the striker too. Pacey player, good dribbler with a bag full of tricks. Really a joy to watch.

So, Ludovic Sane is proably going to be up against André-Pierre Gignac. There are actually a couple of different battles in the pitch which will be quite intriguing like Trémoulinas down the left-flank too. It's interesting how you mentioned how you talk about Sane making his debut against Lyon though, I remember I don't know how many season ago but when Mamadou Sakho made his debut for PSG he was made captain of the team by Le Guen even though there were other experienced players like Mario Yepes and Mickaël Landreau in the team, says a lot about the players in question.

Sane would indeed be going against another of Ligue's top strikers, Gignac. Would be another challenge for him. Time to add more proof that he is the real deal!

Been streaming the Nancy-Lille game, missed most of the first half, started streaming few minutes left, forgot they played. It was 0-0, I was suprised even if Nancy away aint walk in the park. But not so dissapointed for long :D Within minutes at the end of of the first half, Hazard scores, then in 2nd half start Gervinho scores, deadly fucking pair. And their other regular scorer Frau scores in pk. You would think its game over, but just now, around 70th min mark, Hazard attacks through the middle with good combination and has a through ball to Gervinho, who scores.

Ridicolous pair, and this team are seriously keeping up their 4 goals a game.
