That yet remains to be seen. Seriously I'm not overly optimistic of this McLaren's season, it's gonna go down between Renault and Ferrari. I don't think McLaren resolved their reliability problems.
oh really? then why is it that compared to 2005, McLaren had a LOT less engine failures(just one for De La Rosa if i remember correctly)....and what Kimi suffered in Monaco was an overeheating problem which didnt occur afterwards!!!

besides...im SURE they've made progress compared to last season!!! the reignin world champion is drivin for them now....so i dont think they'd take things lightly!!!

Well McLaren says they improved a lot before every season, I really ain't holding my breath for anything big.

As for Alonso, well, he's definetly gonna have a lot to prove this season. If he fails to deliver Schummi fans are gonna have a field day on bashing him and his two "lucky" titles.

I'm really, really sceptical over this season.

And BTW, I'm a McLaren fan. ;)

yaye! a mclaren fan! :)

and i think Renault will suffer! i dont have faith in Fisichella...if he performs better than last season, then good, else renault will be left scratching their heads as to WHY they extended his contract, and hope Heikki performs better...

but as much as i dislike Ferrari, i hope Kimi finally wins his MUCH deserved Drivers Chapmionship soon!

I think Kovaleinen is gonna be Renault's key driver, I just have a feeling about this guy. Renault's car is impecable in terms of reliability, they're IMO still the favourites though Ferrari with Kimi I must say is looking really, really strong.
McLaren only need some luck with the car itself, we have 2 good young drivers that can surprise everyone. Though Alonso is the 2 time champ I definetly don't see him as a favourite for the title.

No matter what happens, those two titles were as lucky as they can get.

Agreed.

In 2005, Alonso drove in an F1 without a Ferrari, essentially.

In 2006, with even the slightest bit of luck, Schumi would have won. F248 was the class of the field after June.

Hamilton escapes injury in crash

Hamilton is left without a car for the rest of this week's testing

Lewis Hamilton escaped unhurt following an accident during a test session with McLaren in Valencia on Thursday.

Just 10 days after unveiling the new MP4-22 in the Spanish city, the 22-year-old Briton badly damaged his car at the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

Hertfordshire's Hamilton shrugged off the incident, saying: "Unfortunately, these things happen in this sport.

"I am completely fine and I'm looking forward to getting back to testing next week."

It has not yet been determined whether it was a mechanical failure or driver error that led to the shunt.

A McLaren spokesperson confirmed: "Lewis was unhurt but the MP4-22 will not be repairable in Valencia. The cause of the accident is being investigated."

Hamilton was confirmed as a McLaren's second driver alongside reigning world champion Fernando Alonso nearly two months ago.

He has long been groomed for success by team principal Ron Dennis, coming to prominence last year when he won the GP2 title.

This first serious accident in F1 for Hamilton leaves him a spectator on the final day of the three-day test session.

Alonso will continue the team's testing programme on his own on Friday.

McLaren are again in Valencia for more testing from next Tuesday through to Thursday.

I wouldn't be surprisee if it was the car's fault at all. :sigh:

Schumi was one and only!!!

But "COLD BLOODED' Kimi will have something to say with his brand new F1-2007"

ITALIAN regulators have fined the Agnelli family's holding company and suspended three senior business people for misleading the market in share dealings relating to Fiat.
The family founded Fiat, the industrial group best known for its cars, over 100 years ago, and they still own 30 per cent of the company.
In 2005, a complicated trade involving contracts with Merrill Lynch enabled Ifil, the Agnelli holding company, to retain its 30 per cent of Fiat, despite banks in the same period converting billions of euros of debt owed to them by Fiat into equity in the company.:lazy:

However, regulators have been investigating communications by the companies involved, on suspicion that investors had been misled about the existence and content of the share contracts with Merrill Lynch.

Consob, Italy's market regulator, which in the past couple of years has been taking a more aggressive attitude to alleged wrongdoing, in February last year sent its notes on the case to criminal authorities.

The criminal investigations are still continuing in Turin, where Fiat is based. On Tuesday, Consob concluded the civil part of the case, fining Ifil, a related company and some directors a total of E16 million ($26.7 million).:star:

Gianluigi Gabetti, Ifil's chairman, and two other senior business people, Virgilio Marrone and Franzo Grande Stevens, were suspended from holding posts in public companies for between two and six months.

Mr Grande Stevens last year resigned, with the rest of the board, as chairman of Juventus, the football club controlled by the Agnellis, which was sent down a division for its part in a match-fixing scandal.:wth:

Ifil said it would appeal against the sanctions and would ask Consob if it was required to delay suspending the executives while the appeal is pending.

John Elkann, who is vice-chairman of Ifil and whose grandfather, Gianni Agnelli, is credited with building Fiat into a global and famous company, said: "We believe that the transaction effected by Ifil in 2005 was conducted with full respect for the law and without any manipulation of the market.:angry2:

"As affirmed on various occasions, this transaction was intended to maintain Ifil's role as the stockholder of reference of Fiat so that it would be assured of the stability necessary to successfully achieve its turnaround."

Fiat's fortunes have revived substantially since 2005. The deal with Merrill allowed the Agnellis to buy more than 80 million Fiat shares at E6.50. On Tuesday they were trading at E17.20.:depressed
