is there a way around it?

Did you patched the game first? That may cause that. If not, install the patch.

Actually, it all depends under which patch you played before.

i still am on patch FM2011v11.2.0 the one which was with the DVD, now im downloading Patch FM2011v11.2.1... is this the one ur talking about that i should patch?
