I think Pepe's long-term ban was mostly due to the terrifying image it brought to those who were watching the match whether in the stadium or by TV. It was "savage". Truly savage.

Tomorrow a court in Milan will decide whether the existing €1.149bn two-year deal with Sky is actually valid or not.

The situation has developed following Conto TV's decision to ask that the League's current contracts with Sky be suspended for lack of competition.

TV rights make up a much greater amount of an Italian club's revenue than that of their counterparts in England and Germany where income is spread equally with merchandising and match-day revenue.

If Sky's deal is suspended then it could result in many clubs going under, bringing Italian football to a grinding halt.

Serie A should be more like the Premiership and become it's own league, it should start looking after itself instead of Serie B aswell. La Liga is going the Premiership route and Serie A needs to follow.

I like when small wonders happen in football, like Sassuolo or Cittadella gaining promotion out of almost nothing. But yeah, let's make it more difficult for them and let them rot in the lower leagues. Especially in italy this is so freaking dumb, since there are so many interesting teams with a great tradition in the lower leagues (Pisa, Pro Vercelli, Hellas, Como, Ternana, Spezia, Reggiana).

But the money is already there and how is it spent? Not on the stadiums in most cases. The clubs and the institutions need to change priorities. I doubt it would cost more on the long run to modernize the stadiums than to pack thousands of policemen in these old dangerous grounds.

There is very little money in Italian football these days in comparison with England and Spain. The first priority has to be players and Italy can't even keep up with the other two in that regard, never mind stadiums.

I beg to differ here. The first priority needs to be security. If the people would feel safe in the stadiums they would come to watch the games. That's how Germany went past Italy in the UEFA rankings.

People won't come to the games if there are no top class players in the league and the quality deteriorates as a result.
