Official: Cagliari sack Allegri!
Cagliari have shocked Serie A by sacking Coach Massimiliano Allegri, replacing him with Giorgio Melis and Gianluca Festa.
The Sardinians are safe from the threat of relegation in 12th place and were until recently still in the hunt for a Europa League spot.
They are without a win since February, but Allegri held a standard Press conference this afternoon with no clues there was a problem.
Instead this evening Cagliari released an official statement confirming they had sacked their Coach.
“The team is assigned to Primavera youth team tactician Giorgio Melis, joined by Gianluca Festa.
“Our thanks go to Allegri for the work he has done and best wishes for the continuation of his career.”
There could be an ulterior motive behind this decision, as Allegri has recently been linked with some top clubs for next season.
Among them are Milan and Juventus following his impressive last two campaigns at the Sant’Elia.
