Pandev is definitely a more talented* player than Amauri, that wasn't even up for debate in the first place. But Amauri is better than Pandev in more facets of the game than just aerial ability. His off the ball movement as a striker is better than Pandev, he is much more of a hard worker than Pandev, he's a better finisher and physically Amauri is a monster.
What i don't understand is how you rate Drogba so highly while at the same time you don't rate Amauri. Now of course i'm not saying they are on a similar level, what i mean is that they are the same type of striker.
Amauri has shown that he can score goals, he has shown that when he is on form he can destroy teams like AC Milan and Real Madrid. He was excellent when he was at Palermo, i remember one of his first seasons at Palermo(can't remember which one) he was the top scorer in the league for almost half a season, up until his long term injury. I believe Amauri was a better player at Palermo than Pandev was at Lazio, its just too bad Amauri couldn't conclusively prove it due to his several injuries.
Oh and i think you know me well enough than to think i am swayed by the media or Pandev's nationality.
* By talented, i mean more skilled on the ball. So that we don't have any problems with definitions
Its not that i (down) rate Pandev, i probably rate him just as highly as you do. Because i think he will be a very good signing for Inter, and he was atop player for Lazio. For Juve i thought he wouldn't be so good, because he would have come with high expectations pinned on him to carry the team. At Inter he is there behind Milito and Eto'o so there isn't much pressure on him.
I think the difference me and you have here is that i think Amauri isn't given enough credit. I think he is a monster of a striker that is just underperforming in a team that is in chaos right now.
He was brilliant for Palermo too, but injuries hampered his career there.
Thats why for Inter, he is a really good signing.
Arshavin didn't start the game, but i see your point here. Good example indeed. A rather good team with Fabregas, Vela and Walcott in it, couldn't beat a Stoke team due to the fact it had two extremely poor players in the form of Silvestre and Campbell.
