But would he have left if Melo wasn't here and Sissoko was healthy all season?

Ahh, that is the 25 million euro question.
Not sure, but potentially he would have. We still needed another body in there considering his injury history.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to be stuck with Poulsen and Sissoko running things with the ball in midfield.

It's one of these :sergio:

You wouldn't want to see Sissoko as the main CDM?

Why not? With Camoranesi and Marchisio beside him?

It's pretty obvious that with the diamond midfield, you need to have somebody who can pass the ball from the defense to the attack. Sissoko can not. So if Diego is all by himself there with PUKEson and Sissoko behind him, he will get drawn away from where he's most effective -- the opposition 18. So then the whole system is shot to hell.

I see.

So, where exactly do you play Sissoko now?

Assuming that they stick with a 4-3-1-2 formation.

If you play him on the left, what do you do with Marchisio? Is he capable of playing on the right?

Sissoko is not disciplined enough to play the screening role in front of the defense, and it isn't a good idea to restrict him by playing him in that role.

He's more suited to a role in front of the main DM whether to his left or to his right.

I'd say that Marchisio can be the sub considering I think we really need Camo's presence on the right side of the pitch to compensate for our horrible fullbacks. I know you'll hate that, but we are just too poor on the right side to play without Camo or a similar guy out there. So the best course of action with the 4-3-1-2 is IMO:

---------------------------------- Grosso

Camo - Melo - Sissoko

“I have played in all the best European grounds but never at the Bernabeu,”

“I have never played against Raul either and now I will get the chance to face him in his own stadium.” explained SuperPippo.

You are going through an early senility Pippo, what about the 98 CL final?

Fuck the 4-3-1-2, fucking retarded formation that brings way to many defensive midfielders and no width at all to the game.
But that's not exactly true when done correctly. We used the same system under Lippi in 2003, so blasting it as a retarded formation is retarded in itself. The only problem is that we have a weak right flank when Camo isn't out there and we still rely on Del Piero far too much.

I hate the man, not the player.

This team is weak on both flanks. Which seemed obvious before Melo was bought.

Diamond are easily swollowed by flooding the midfield, when there is little to no option to widen thf play.

I'd stick Diego wide sometimes.

What do you think about a 4-2-3-1 then?, that would offer us more width.

Do they have the midfield depth to do that? Who do you put in there?

Melo-Sissoko
Camo-Diego-Marchisio

Is that what you mean?

That would leave Poulsen, Giovinco, and Tiago. Unless I'm forgetting somebody, and I'm pretty sure I am.
