Decent signing for them. Upgrade on Stankovic, but not really the creative playmaker they were looking for. He'll be dangerous with his longe range shots, but I dont see him as the missing link between midfield and attack for them.

Van der Vaart would have been the better and cheaper option for them.

I don't get how they could take him. The guy has been rejecting them for a week and he preferred to stay in Real where he wouldn't play than joining Printer.

it's better for Juve if Sporting get knocked out, right?
In regards to the CL pot thingy you're talking about, then no, we're already in pot 2 and nothing can change that. (Shakhtar's elimination was enough).

If you mean the Italian Uefa coefficient, then i don't know. Like i said many times, a win and a draw in Europa League bring just as many pts as a win and a draw do in CL. So, considering how it would be easier for Fiorentina to win matches in Europa League, maybe it would be even better, looking from this aspect, if Fiorentina ends up in Europa Cup.

If you mean the reputation of Italian football among football fans, then it's better if Fiorentina plays in CL and does good there.

I mean option 1 and if that's clear, then fuck the rest...Fuck Fiorentina
Option 2 is also important. If the German teams do better than Italian teams this year, then in season 2011/2012 Germany will have 4 teams in CL while Italy will have 3.

Of course, we're Juve and top 3 should be easy to achieve in Italy, but i still prefer if Italy has 4 spots in CL, just in case something goes wrong and we end up 4th placed.

It's really important the Italian teams to win a lot of pts in Europe this year.
A perfect scenario would be Inter and Milan to end 3rd in their CL groups, continue in Europa League and win a lot of matches there (together with Fiorentina, Roma, Lazio and Genoa), while Juve wins the CL. :)

I ve red in a Greek site that Olympiakos will get more money from UEFA, regarding the bonus a team gets when enters the CL group stage!
http://www.sportnet.gr/report.php?id=196287
It is said that since only one reached to the group stages, they wont have to share that bonus (17mil) with another Greek team.

Does this means that we are getting a smaller cut too, now that Fiorentina has reached the groups?? Hard to believe but does anyone knows how this works? Alen?

I know how it works :D

In some of the threads here someone posted a good article about it.
I think Italy gets some ~55 m eur from TV rights. It's shared depending on which position you ended in the league and how many teams are there.

So, Inter would get, lets say 19m, Juve 15m, Milan 12m, Fiorentina 9m.

If Fiorentina didn't play CL then only 3 teams would have shared the money and it would have been like 3m or so more money for each of them.

Yeah, Fiorentina making it to CL is actually costing us at least 3 mil eur.

FORZA Fiorentina! :sergio:

I believe it will bring more points to Italy's coefficient if Fiorentina joined Europa league, against smaller opponents.

but the better question is, while no one even asks :faq1: which one is better for Juve? the elimination of Fiorentina from the CL ofcourse, that's because Juve will get more money from the prize money/TV deals that it is shared between the Italian teams.

But yeah, it's all about Italy, who cares about the money Juve will get? :faq1:

So basically Fiorentina's qualification to CL this year and then winning or drawing less matches than they could in EL increases probablitity of losing the fourth spot in Serie A qualifying in favour of Bundeliga and no more CL for Fiorentina this way?

How cunning were those who cheered for Fiorentina justifying it by the good of Italian football!
