But this milan team is pretty bad. They're key players are not good enough to carry that team next season. Ronaldinho the guy who's supposed to be their playmaker looks like shit. If someone like Pato is injured then they're screwed big time.
If they end up 5th-6th next season am pretty sure someone like Pato would ask to leave their club, the situation will get worse and worse if they don't start to spend their money now (they need atleast 3 WC players)....

I agree completely. From what I saw (parts of both halves), Milan looked terrible & I got the feeling there was a complete lack of team spirit.
But we definitely must not underestimate them. Once the official games start, things may have turned around completely. They are still a "big" club & imo they can still make life very difficult for every team that faces them.

I actually think they will be better than last season once the season actually starts. They just need some depth.
But last season they had no Nesta, lost Rino for most of the year, Ronaldinho did not play much, Kaka was injured a fair amount, no Tiago Silva, No Borriello
Now they have Nesta back and if he stays fit that is a huge boost to them, They borught in a great partner for Nesta in Silva, Ronaldinho seems to be more serious this season and will be vital, Borriello is fit and if he can play like he did the year before last he will be important, Rino is fit too. Also Flamini seems to have settled towards the end of last season.
Once they get one of their goal keepers back from injury, bring in a center forward (which will defn happen) and possibly sign a mid and defender. I think they will have a good year for them and come 3rd

Now lets see the pesimistic one:
Kaka, even though he missed a good number of matches and wasn't at his best, scored 16 goals and made 9 assists last season in serie A. Top scorer- Top assist man.
Nesta is 33, didn't play at all in the last year and a half, his injury was very serious (doctors said that it's a career ending injury) and could very very very easily be repeated at any time.
The other 6 stars in the team are Pirlo, Seedorf, Pato, Gattuso, Zambrotta and Ronaldinho. 4 of them are in their 30's while Ronaldinho will turn 30 later this season. More important than their age is that for 2 seasons all of them (not counting Pato) have been in such a poor form that it will be a miracle if they suddenly start performing. Gattuso even missed almost an entire season due to a bad injury. Their captain Ambrosini is also in his 30's (32) and all of them are much slower than they were. Even if all of them somehow find their form, the speed is definitely gone.
Kaka was giving speed and vision to this team and now he's gone.
Plus, this time they have tough Champions League football and they can't play with their B team in the UEFA Cup, resting the main players for serie A.
They lack depth, they have a coach who doesn't even have coaching license.
What will happen is probably somewhere between your optimistic and my pessimistic view.
In other words, due to the lack of quality teams in serie A, Milan will sneak into top 4, but they will be far behind the scudetto contenders Juve and Inter. At least some 15 pts behind.
