so it is ok if you are under-qualified and inexperienced as long as you played in 1 world cup or more?
I suppose the reasoning behind it is that you know a thing or two about football if you have played in a World Cup. It's still bollocks though. TBH I don't think there should be rules. If a club wants an underqualified coach, let them have him.

Moratti: 'No alibis for Jose!'

Saturday 11 July, 2009

If Jose Mourinho claims Inter are not ready to challenge for Europe, the message hasn’t reached Massimo Moratti. “No alibis, I want the Champions League!”

The club revealed a deep split today when Coach Mourinho declared in a Press conference that he is “not Harry Potter” and the squad at his disposal is still a step below the top teams.

“I know Mourinho, he likes to provoke fans and journalists,” replied President Moratti on Sky Sport 24.

“He creates a situation to fire everyone up and I take this as a provocation to get the players he wants. I don’t think we are so far off the other teams, but also trust in the experience of the Coach who knows what elements he needs.

“We will not need miracles, just as winning the Scudetto was not a miracle, so I don’t think it will be difficult, nor miraculous, to do better than last season in the Champions League.”

Mourinho’s men were eliminated in the second round by eventual Finalists Manchester United, but struggled in the group phase and finished below Panathinaikos.

“The Champions League is foremost in my thoughts and I think it is within our grasp. I don’t want to hear any alibis.”

It is a stark and public warning to Mourinho that similar failure will not be tolerated, regardless of whether Inter win the Scudetto.

Roberto Mancini was sacked after winning a third straight Serie A title because he did not come close to the European Final.

Mourinho declared this squad is “not the one I envisaged,” but the players he has requested do not impress Moratti.

“I did not individually choose Deco and Ricardo Carvalho. I was told they were among the objectives we were looking at,” explained the President.

“The other alternatives fell away and we were left with these two, who as conditions currently stand would be bad deals. We need time and consideration.”

The patron is still burning from last season, when Mourinho demanded Ricardo Quaresma for £20m only for the winger to flop so badly he was loaned to Chelsea in January.

Moratti: Juve are very competitive

Inter patron Massimo Moratti sees Juventus as the main Scudetto contenders, but is less concerned with Milan and Roma.

“I think we were strong last season and have kept the basic structure with a few new additions such as Diego Milito and Thiago Motta, so we are even stronger now,” he told Sky Italia.

“Milan are facing some big changes, starting from their Coach, as I admire Leonardo a great deal. He’ll adopt different tactics, so we can expect anything from them, both good and bad.

“They could rediscover the hunger they have been lacking in recent years, at least in Serie A.

“Juve were already a good team last season and have become very competitive with the introduction of Fabio Cannavaro, Felipe Melo and Diego.”

In recent years Roma had been the main challengers to Inter for the title, but last season they failed to finish in the top four and are struggling financially.

“There are few families who are still able to control a football club,” sighed Moratti. “It is a very difficult thing to deal with.

“The Sensi family did very well in the past and this girl [President Rosella] has the tenacity and pride to keep hold of the reins.

“I admire her a great deal and know full well the problems one has to face in making these decisions.”

Perhaps the hardest working side on the transfer market has been Napoli, as patron Aurelio De Laurentiis snapped up Fabio Quagliarella, Luca Cigarini, Hugo Campagnaro, Juan Zuniga and Morgan De Sanctis.

“De Laurentiis has done very well, as he made some good buys last year too. He took a very generous approach to the passionate fans and I hope he can do well – although preferably not taking three points off us the same way they have done in the last two years!”

Inter have been defeated at the San Paolo for the last two consecutive seasons.

jesus christ Pele was one of the greatest players ever(if not THE greatest) yet every time he opens his mouth about football you cringe...................Jose Mourihno and Arsene Wenger on the other hand are management geniuses despite never being top class players

And by the way one question,

do you guys think that Serie A is falling apart slowly? I mean, both EPL and La Liga spend so much more money...we spent 40mln so far and not to mention how Real and how will Chelsea and probably Manure continue spending more than 100mln punds a year.

Italy to lose 1 CL spot to Germans soon?
