As a Juventus supporter, obviously I am happy that one of our rivals has been weakened, for the time being.
however, as a lover of Calcio, this move, along with Ibra's impending move to Barcelona, does not sit well with me.
I feel that this is a foreshadowing of the further decline of Italian Football on the European stage. No longer is Serie A a place where allthe big boys come and play, and finish their careers here.
Now, Serie A can only be looked at in some circles as a breeding ground to develop and nurture up and coming superstars, only to have them leave in the prime of their careers to bigger and better places.
This is really disheartening. the BIG 3 of Europe, has now become, for all intents and purposes, the BIG 2 1/2. The only way that Serie A can stem the tide of this is to further develop and nurture players through their youth system, and please, do away with this rule that they have to be 18 before they can sign a professional contract. The last thing that Serie A needs is to have the vultures of the EPL and La Liga snooping around the youth camps pilfering the young players, like they have done the past several years.
