Not sure it was sarcasm. Gilardino has been able to score for Azzurri, and in the Champions League which I value a lot higher than Pazzini's experience of just Serie A and possibly Europa. Not ruling the latter out though, he should still go.

I agree that Gila has more experience, and in my opinion Gila can hold and shield the ball better, but when it comes to running into space and movements without ball I would pick pazzini, also pazzini is more comfortable with the ball in his feet than Gila.

currently Pazzini is the best #9 italian player, and Cassano is the best italian #10trequartista, and both of them won't start for Italy. Lippi is going to take his favorite players Toni, Gila, Di Natale, and quagliarella and get knocked out in the round of 16
