Juve objected to Zanetti sale

Cristiano Zanetti’s agent has admitted he feared that Juventus would block his client’s move to Fiorentina.

The Italian surprisingly joined the Viola in a £1.5m deal in August, but Carlo Pallavicino has revealed that the swift switch wasn’t as straightforward as many were led to believe.

It all kicked off with a conversation between Zanetti and Marco Marchionni, who also left Juve for Florence in the summer, but it ended in confrontation.

I knew that Marchionni called him to talk about the possibility of a move,” noted Pallavicino. “However, I couldn’t believe it when [Fiorentina’s sporting director Pantaleo] Corvino phoned me.

“He asked me about the possibility of Juventus letting him go and I almost got a fever just thinking about it. My fear was that Juve wouldn’t allow it.

The agent was right as a host of influential figures in Turin initially objected to the transfer of Zanetti.

“Coach Ciro Ferrara wanted to construct the midfield around Felipe Melo and Zanetti,” added Pallavicino.

Director general Jean-Claude Blanc and chief scout Castagnini were also against the Fiorentina move for Cristiano.

However, in the end, because of finances and in the interests of the player and Fiorentina, it was all resolved quickly
.”

Zanetti underlined his ability with a stunning display in Fiorentina’s 2-0 Champions League win over Liverpool on Tuesday.

Is it true that Milan have been playing the Champions League theme at San Siro before Serie A games, hoping it will motivate them?

This gotta be the most desperate shit ever
Not only before the serie A games, but also during the games when they couldn't score.

no one will do well coaching Milan this season, they have too many old legs

as far as Zanetti goes, we could have nixed the sale, couldnt we ??

should have gave them Poulsen or Tiago for free ;)

I second this. It's 1.5 million not 15 million to keep our finances up! Zanetti is still playing much better than Poulsen and Tiago. I still believe we should have kept him.

Zanetti's agent feared that deal couldn't go on, Ferrara wanted to build the team around Zanetti and Melo, so Ferrara and Blanc wanted him to stay, from the previous reports we understand that Zanetti wanted contract extension, but we sold him for 1.5 million, for financial reasons? Well yeah, I stand on my view, we should have kept him unless he wanted to move (which he didn't, since he wanted to stay longer than a year)!

Well if they do right things they get the credit, and if they do wrong moves they get the critics, this one was wrong, the critic is well deserved. I don't see any problem/drama in this.
