Zampa rejects 'fan passports'
Monday 17 August, 2009
Maurizio Zamparini has joined the ultras in condemning the new 'fan passport’ system. “We’re turning into a police state!”

The law was signed last week forcing clubs to release an ID card style of season ticket that will allow fans to go through security checks quicker than those without it.

As of January, only those in possession of the 'fan passport’ can attend away games.

“Any initiative that goes against personal liberty means we’re turning into a police state!” slammed the Palermo President.

“You can only have a ceasefire in wartime. It is not possible to limit the personal liberty of millions of people just to clamp down on a hundred hooligans.

“There is no need for these laws which are clearly killing our liberties. I refuse to go to a stadium outside my city and find I can’t be let in without an ID card containing all my information.

“The problem here is a lack of personal liberty in Italy, seeing as we are the only nation with this law. It is paradoxical, shameful and I am embarrassed to be Italian right now.

“Our politicians are incompetent and the fans need to take responsibility. Aside from 1,000 delinquents, who have already been identified, groups of fans like Palermo go around the country without causing trouble.”

Mourinho launches Lippi attack Tuesday 18 August, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inter boss Jose Mourinho has criticised Marcello Lippi for predicting that Juventus will win Serie A this season.

The Italian national Coach backed his former club last night when asked the question before the Trofeo Berlusconi and his answer has not been well received by the Portuguese tactician.

“I didn’t hear him say it, but if what I read is true, then it is the first time that a national Coach, a man with great institutional responsibility, predicts the victory of one club,” Mourinho told Inter Channel.

“If it’s true, it makes me think. If it’s true, it shows a lack of respect.”

Mourinho, not one to keep his opinions to himself, added: “It seems as if the championship is over even before it has started.

“It is normal for journalists to give their opinion and say that Juve will win the League.

“It is normal that Juventus officials say the same, but it is the first time that I read a national Coach say these things.”

I wonder if Mourinho would of been upset if Lippi had of said that he though Inter would win it. Lippi is intitled to his opinion and Mourinho should show him more respect.
