German Magazine Der Spiegel Claims That Inter Risk Relegation To Serie B

German magazine Der Spiegel are trying to paint a less than perfect picture of Inter...

German magazine Der Spiegel has launched a ferocious anti-Inter campaign ahead of the May 22 Champions League final against Bayern Munich by claiming that the Nerazzurri risk relegation to Serie B for their part in Calciopoli.

A number of allegations have been splashed across their pages in relation to the ongoing Calciopoli trial in Naples where new calls involving Inter emerged.

Extracts from Spiegel read:

"Intercepeted phone calls, manipulated referees and doubts on Serie A, and no, we are not speaking about Juventus.

"Four years after the Italian football scandal, when Juventus were relegated to Serie B and revoked two Scudetti, Inter now risk the same punishment.

"There is not a day when new dirty details don't emerge, sparked off by Luciano Moggi who is changing the cards at the trial of Naples."

While it is highly unlikely that Inter will be relegated to Serie B, cynics will say that Der Spiegel has used this opportunity to try and destabilise Inter ahead of the Champions League final.

The current situation regarding Calciopioli is that the FIGC are looking to launch their own investigation into the new evidence emerging in Naples, and there have been speculative suggestions that the 2006 Scudetto could be revoked from Inter, but that possibility remains unconfirmed.

Who smells a huge Barca bias and frustration created by Barca's elimination? :

http://www.football-italia.net/may5k.html

He simply had to take a kick at Real and he moaned about the non-beautiful football Mourinho plays.
That's no different than anything I hear from the Barca fans.

Cruyff is a great man, i love reading what he has to say. Naturally he is biased to Barcelona, no doubt about that, but when you look past that, he always has something interesting to say.

He said Inter will win the CL and that they are a strong team, he just thinks that they play dirty, ugly and unattractive football. He's right.

To me it sounded like a kick at Real Madrid (was it needed?) and like something personal against Mourinho.
I doubt that Cruyff gives a fuck about Inter and how they play. But if he thinks that Inter's football this year isn't attractive then he's wrong.
I'm guessing that he watched Inter only 5-6 times this year and on 2-3 of those matches Inter played amazing football, completely outplaying Chelsea in London and giving a football lesson to Barca in Milano. Inter played tactically excellent, something his Barcelona isn't capable of doing. They played defense when needed, they played with 4 attackers when needed, they attacked when needed and they played on counters when needed. If you ask me, that's damn attractive.
Neither were Inter diving to win penalties or red cards (like Alves did in Milano or Busquets in Barcelona) nor did they hurt Barca's players (quite the contrary. Messi wasn't hardly ever touched in those 180 minutes, despite everyone thinking that the Italian team will keep targeting his legs, but he broke Maicon's teeth, plus he deliberately kicked Maicon at Camp Nou).

Cruyff might be a great man who was also a great player (I'm trusting my dad that he's the best of Europe as a player) but everything in this last interview was weak and full with bitterness.

Inter's game against Chelsea was effective football but not great. In this year there are no great teams: some are aging, some weakened by transfer dealings, some stronger because of coaching, but none great.

Your fathers wrong, Cruff lays behind Platini, who is behind Zizou. You could throw in Best to that mixture.

    :agree:

Biased and stupid stuff like what Cruyff has said makes me sneakily wish Inter to win the CL :wallbang:

And when they also have Villa (or Torres) they'll be the team to beat again.

I've just read the Cruff stuff, and he is right about inter and Mourinho. He is wrong about them winnIg the final though.

Doesn't help when Xavi is playing through injury.

The trade of Eto'o and Ibra, accompanied by the never ending Iniesta injuries have been their problem.

Edit: And a manager who thinks Busquets > Touré
