Sneijder out against Barca
Sneijder thigh strain confirmed
Sunday 25 April, 2010
Terrible news for Inter, as the test on Wesley Sneijder showed a thigh strain that is likely to rule him out of the trip to Barcelona.
The Dutchman limped off at half-time during Saturday's 3-1 win over Atalanta with a muscular problem.
Today he underwent medical tests and the results were far from reassuring.
“As planned, this afternoon the Inter medical staff conducted a series of tests on Sneijder,” read a statement on the club website.
“The results showed a strain in the left thigh muscle.”
Although there is no word on how long this will keep him out for, it is not a small injury and recovery for Wednesday is extremely difficult.
The Nerazzurri have a 3-1 first leg lead from their Champions League semi-final over Barcelona.
The Spaniards are preparing for the big game with specially-made T-Shirts they wore after last night's 3-1 Liga victory over Xerez.
'Barcelona-Inter, we'll make it tough. Everyone at the Camp Nou for the fightback.'
